Part of the Guzman Y Gomez chain — see all 106 locationsGuzman y Gomez was founded in Sydney in 2006 by New Yorkers and childhood best friends Steven Marks and Robert Hazan. Steven, a former hedge fund manager, and Robert, who had a background in fashion wholesale and retail, both missed the authentic fresh flavours of Mexican cuisine that they had grown up with in America.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. From corporate headquarters: 'The chicken at all GYG restaurants is Halal certified - a copy of the certificate can be emailed upon request. We do have Halal certified chicken across all our locations. We do however work with other non-Halal meats and we do not follow halal processes in the kitchen.'
I am not one to complain but this has literally tipped me over the edge with Frenchs Forest branch gyg The reason why I am giving this a poor review is because on numerous occasions I have had ingredients in my food that are not what I ordered or are completely random. I ordered a vege burrito with no rice and vege nacho fries. But for some reason as I was taking the last few bites of my burrito, I bit down on chicken. Now for some people they might have thought they scored something however for me no I don't feel that way. 1. As a customer I want to know what I have purchase is what it says it's going to be. 2. I am a vegetarian, I don't want to eat meat. I never ordered meat and I will never order meat. I am traumatised. I don't want to eat here again. I don't trust gyg or their food. I have mega trust issues now with this branch. I would not recommend coming here if you have allergies or are specific about you're food. Clearly staff on hand struggle to differentiate words and orders or perhaps they don't care. Now on other occasions, I have received nacho fries with carrots and jalapenos which I never order and anyone that knows me knows, that I cannot handle spice or jalapenos. I have had extra coriander in an order. I have zero beans in a nacho fries, how can you have nacho fries with no beans. All of this food mishaps have come from this specific Frenchs Forest branch. I am extremely disappointed and Gyg has lost a valuable customer.
