53 Park Lane, Mayfair, Greater London
Chinese restaurant at The Dorchester Hotel. Conceived by Sir David Tang, the founder of China Clubs in Hong Kong, Peking and Singapore, as well as the life-style brand, Shanghai Tang, China Tang offers some of the best and most authentic Cantonese food outside China. Menus do not compromise on classical recipes and all dishes, including its signature Peking Duck are prepared with the freshest ingredients and traditional spices and flavouring (no MSG).
The menus clearly state that halal food is served. Separate halal menu available.
Score reflects a halal certificate on file, with an active issue report under review.
Very poor indeed. Flavours were shockingly a let down. When your local Chinese take away taste miles better than you know they have gone wrong somewhere.
I don’t often give a venue a top rating but China Tang has been so consistent for so many years that it deserves the kudos. One can safely judge a restaurant from the quality of its ablutions. It does not disappoint! The bar is cosy and the staff attentive. The restaurant is vibey and yet, the acoustics allow for conversation. The duck is the coup de grace and has never disappointed. Remains one of the few Mayfair venues that hits all the traditional values associated with fine London dining.
