Every menu item is made fresh and made to be one of the best you've ever tasted. Shelby's is a fast casual shawarma chain born in London, Ontario, on a mission to modernize the shawarma in unspeakable ways while also helping to spread happiness and the appetite for good food and good flavour in communities.
A halal certificate is clearly visible on the premises. From the management: 'Shelby’s proudly serves 100% hand-slaughtered Halal meat at all our locations, ensuring adherence to Islamic dietary laws. We source all of our hand-slaughtered protein options from reputable suppliers from across Ontario.'
I was excited to try Shelby’s Shawarma for the first time, and unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. I specifically told the server that it was my first visit and that I wanted a really good butter chicken bowl with lots of chicken. Based on that, he recommended paying extra for double protein. I ordered the Butter Chicken Bowl with double protein, but when I got my food it was obvious that it didn’t contain double chicken. On top of that, there was barely any butter chicken sauce. I’ve attached a picture of the bowl, and you can clearly see that it’s mostly a huge bed of rice with a small amount of chicken and some vegetables on top. For a meal that cost around $20, I expected much better value. After just a few bites, I was left with nearly half a bowl of plain rice because there simply wasn’t enough chicken or sauce to go with it. For a first-time customer, this was a very poor introduction to the brand. I hope Shelby’s pays more attention to portion consistency, especially when customers are paying extra for double protein.
