Part of the Guzman Y Gomez chain — see all 106 locationsGuzman y Gomez was founded in Sydney in 2006 by New Yorkers and childhood best friends Steven Marks and Robert Hazan. Steven, a former hedge fund manager, and Robert, who had a background in fashion wholesale and retail, both missed the authentic fresh flavours of Mexican cuisine that they had grown up with in America.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. From corporate headquarters: 'The chicken at all GYG restaurants is Halal certified - a copy of the certificate can be emailed upon request. We do have Halal certified chicken across all our locations. We do however work with other non-Halal meats and we do not follow halal processes in the kitchen.'
I usually don’t mind if there are any minor errors with my order, and let go of it, but today I thought I might address the concern. I ordered a regular chicken burrito bowl with extra habanero sauce and guacamole, upon receiving the order noticed there is hardly chicken meat in the meal, there was bits of small pieces of chicken with lots of rice. I paid $18 not for a bowl of extra rice but chicken. This needs to be addressed and fixed. I’m very upset with the order today. Maybe the staffs needs extra training on food serving proportions. Attached is a photo for reference.
