About Chicago Curry House

Your commute for Nepalese food just got considerably shorter with the arrival of this South Loop restaurant, a sister spot to Highwood's Curry Hut. If you're unfamiliar with Nepalese specialties, traditional stewed dishes like aloo tama bodi (spiced potatoes, bamboo, shoots and black-eyed peas) are good place to start. Chicago Curry House is possible the only place in town where you can get momo (above), tasty little Nepalese steamed dumplings filled with vegetables or chicken and served with a tasty curry dipping sauce. The Nepalese dishes share the menu with a robust selection of Indian favorites, including taste bud-scorching vindaloos and deeply flavourful tandoori chicken.

I was in Chicago for a quick two day conference and have a bit of an on-going love affair with Indian cuisine. I walked to the restaurant from my hotel nearby. So The food was best ., I can say that, this was without question, the best Indian dinner I have ever had. I am a fan of the vegetarian entrees, so I ordered the Aloo Mutter and the Alu Chat. Both were exceptional. The sauces were spicy and flavorful. And the food was best. The next time I am in Chicago, I will absolutely be returning here, It is a best indian food i had at Chicago curry house ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED,

I went here with a groupon for their lunch buffet about maybe a couple of years ago! I mean the place is two thumbs down, never been back and will never go, neither will recommend to anyone. And I highly doubt this place is Zabihah.

Would never recommend this restaurant at all! I'm from UK, came for a conference in chicago downtown early April. Used zabihah.com to find halal food around the area. Went to 2 other restaurants listed in zabihah.com, unfortunately they're closed. So finally went to chicago curry house based on halal listing in zabihah. Very very unfortunate, wished I had walked out from the restaurant especially after the encounter with its manager/senior waiter. I didn't walk out since it was already very late for dinner and I pity my 2 non muslim friends who were with me wanting to sample indian food and they were really hungry. I asked before seated whether food is halal, the manager confirmed its halal. But once seated I noticed that the restaurant is full of hindu idols and pictures and big alcohol bars, so that made me even more suspicious. I asked again when the waiter/manager came to take order and he told me everything is halal (eventhough he seems to be disturbed by the question), and when I asked whether he got the meat from muslim butchers, he said he dont know about that but 'everything is halal'. I think he has his own definition of halal (i believe the guy is a nepali hindu). When I ordered vegetarian meal (which is very expensive) and my non-muslim friends ordered chicken/meat meal, he praised them on their choice as a way of insult to me. I didn't enjoy the meal at all. I paid more than $20 for the meal there. I don't like to leave bad review, but I thought that I wouldn't wish this to happen to others like me who relied on the listing found here and then trapped in the restaurant. Please take this out from zabihah listing since this is misleading.
