About Ghareeb Nawaz UIC

Located at UIC, this is a smaller branch of the Devon location. Notable for having a $25,000 reward for anyone able to prove that their meat is *not* zabihah halal. Attached to borders like bookstore and sharing restroom, some tables and one entrance with them.

I have been going to Ghareeb Nawaz on Devon for years so when I was near UIC and had to eat I thought why not try this place. "¢Location: in a plaza, small with a couple of tables. "¢Menu: The menu posted had the same variety as the Devon Ave one but they barely had anything we wanted. Which was really annoying. "¢Food: Amount is less and price is decent. The quality is not the same and the kabobs we got was dry. I would rather go to the Devon location to be honest. Better quality and bigger portions.

Tried Frontier Chicken, it's great. Also lamb biryani, gyro biryani and Seekh kabob Paharta, all are great. Price is decent < $6. 10 small tables so you can dine in. Clean and neat. Highly recommended.

Its cheap, you get a LOT of food for the money. That\'s where the good things end.... Chicken biryani is what i mostly get, its a hit or miss, depending on the time of the day you go. Overall what can you expect on the quality of the meat/food for the prices they charge, you figure it out. I would go here if i am in the area and really needed to eat. The paratha\'s they make are fresh and are generally good.

I don't know what's up with the bad reviews.. Honestly they have fresh, delicious, CHEAP, halal food. For less than 5 dollars you can get enough food for 2 people to feel stuffed. Really a great place to eat, and a blessing to have right near the UIC campus!

This place is awful.. Everytime and all the time they're out of things even in the middle of the day. Food is tasteless. Go to the one on Devon.

The food at this place is disgusting. I have to spit out half the pieces of chicken that I eat. Their other branch serves much better, and eatable food. Only go in when you see the owner there (big white complexioned guy). Otherwise, this place is run by cocky college students always on their smartphones

I will like to give a little background of Gareeb Nawaz resturant (GN) for those of you who are tourist or new to this area. The main location is at Devon avenue which is known for its cheap, inexpensive food and serving students of Loyola and cabbies 24 hour. Quality of their food is so so. Their chicken biryani, chili chicken and many paratha rolls are good. Nihari or beef biryani not recommended at all. I took beef biryani home for the first time and my 4 year old son refused to eat second bite. He said it doesnt taste like biryani. Most of the items are under 4-5$. You can get chicken biryani for $3.99 and paratha rolls for under 3$. Best thing about GNE is its location which is it is attached to a borders like book store and you can take your food and sit in bookstore and eat and read. Place is nothing like Gareeb Nawaz of Devon. It is new, cleaner and just look like cafe attached to borders. I was surprised to see a self service fountain soda machine there which is rare to be seen in a desi resturant. Bathrooms are shared with the book store and very clean. They even deliver in surrounding neighborhood. I'll recommend this place if you are in neighborhood and looking for a clean, cheap desi food to eat and not so picky about the taste today.
