We have been many times over the years. It is a shame that Satay house is probably the most expensive Malaysian restaurant around. It always has been. It is also not always authentic, catering to the tastes of too many non-Malaysians. Many items on the menu are really out of place. There is increasingly good competition so I see almost no reason to go again.
I wasn't over bawled over by the food at Satay House. To me it could have been a little bit better. I think I would go for a dry noodle dish if I were to go again (going by what my companion had). I highly recommend the rose syrup and lime drink we had, for that I would definately return, it was yummy, and refreshing. I also enjoyed the warm atmosphere there, and would highly recommend the seating downstairs, which is more spacious, warm, and comfortable. The bathroom facilities are clean, and modern. I also loved the decor with the painted hibiscuses, and the ambient lighting.
not the best malaysian food, not bad though.
The food here is excellent though a bit pricey. The kway teow and the nasi goreng are tasty. Good selection of dishes to eat with plain rice as well.
Food is Excellent...very tasty!....Very spacious with lots of seating arrangement...even cater for Salaat times..alhamdulillah top stuff!
Food is outstanding, people (especially the owner) are really nice. It is a bit pricey but you do get what you pay for! Kway Teow is my fav.
Fantastic place, slightly over priced but worth it! Great service and good size portions!
Tasty halal Malaysian food. Probably as close as you can get to authentic Malay food. Everything I have had tastes good. However it does get busy and the service is very slow.
great great food.. must try the garlic fried chicken and teh tarik... and the briyani and kway teow is also very good. try the satay too. overall very classy and delicious. mabruk.
Food is good! Small place, always packed! A range of ordinary to royalties eat here cos food is excellent! Prices r reasonable!
Our visit to Satay House in London was outstanding from start to finish. The food was genuinely authentic and easily the most convincing Malaysian cuisine I have experienced outside of Malaysia. Every dish reflected depth of flavour, care in preparation, and a clear respect for traditional Malaysian cooking. We started with the chicken satay, which was exceptional. Perfectly grilled, tender, and infused with aromatic spices, it was served with a rich peanut sauce that struck the ideal balance between savoury and nutty. This is satay as it should be, bold, comforting and deeply familiar to anyone who knows Malaysian food well. The nasi lemak was another highlight. The coconut rice was fragrant and beautifully cooked, served with a prawn sambal that delivered a proper level of heat and spice. It had real depth and warmth rather than being toned down, which is often the case outside Malaysia, and it brought the whole dish together exceptionally well. We also tried the chicken wings, which were full of flavour and cooked beautifully, crisp on the outside and juicy inside. Another standout was the Udang Kunyit. The prawns were cooked in a chilli coconut sauce with garlic, ginger, lime and turmeric, creating a dish that was vibrant, aromatic and deeply satisfying. The flavours were layered and unmistakably Malaysian, with just the right balance of spice, richness and freshness. Portions were very generous, making the meal feel excellent value for the quality and authenticity delivered. The staff were warm, friendly and welcoming throughout, adding to a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Satay House truly stands out in London for offering real Malaysian food rather than a diluted interpretation. It feels like a place Malaysians would recognise and appreciate, and for anyone seeking authentic Malaysian cuisine, it is an absolute must visit.
