I use Sainsbury's a lot when travelling around the country - most stores are very good, especially the larger stores. However, this was a dreadful experience: bought a range of food, but the assistant missed an item. I pointed it out at the time, so that I could avoid a problem when leaving the store. I saw the person skip a scan. It happens, I get it, but what is inexcusable is the attitude. The reality is that I'm doing us all a favour by pointing out it was missed, yet it was treated with disdain. When I pointed to the receipt and the item in question, it became 100% obvious I was right. Instead of a thank you, it was more irritation. Bad. What added to the nonsense was the assistant not listening to me properly because it turned out they were listening to someone on their headset. Had to repeat stuff after it became clear they hadn't the decency to listen properly from the start. This was obvious when they removed their headset and wanted me to go over it all again. That, coupled with the nearby surreal 'Backrooms character' desperate and too impatient to wait for their cigarettes, made the experience a microcosm of what increasingly passes for today's dystopian Britain. Let's be clear: it was a simple enough problem to process, but it became a strungout debate. I was doing Sainsbury's, and myself, a favour. So, why the protracted nonsense?
Genuinely one of the worst supermarkets in city centre. Staff are terrible an act with little energy or care: usually just standing in aisles chatting. Avoid! Try mailbox Tesco instead.
I've been going to the shop since the day it opened with not a single problem, a new security guard just told me I'm barred cos I stole a donut... (last time I was in there he followed me everywhere so I gave him a dirty look) Whilst I commend the manager for standing by the security guard this is disgusting behavior!!!!
I visited this Sainsbury’s on 16 November 2025 at around 1:50 PM and had a very upsetting experience. When I used the self-checkout, the machine showed an error and asked me to scan my item again. After I did that, the system charged me for two items even though I only wanted one. I tried to sort it out, but the machine would not let me cancel the extra item. I decided to go to the counter to get help from a staff member. Before I even reached the counter, the security guard came up to me. Instead of listening, he immediately blamed me for scanning twice. I explained that the machine asked me to rescan, but he spoke to me in a rude, disrespectful and unprofessional way. He raised his voice, accused me of doing it on purpose, and told me to leave the store. He even said I was banned. I felt embarrassed and shocked by the way he treated me. I live nearby and I shop in this store many times, so this incident was very disappointing. I request the management to check the CCTV and review the full situation. No customer should be spoken to this way or made to feel unwanted in a place they visit regularly.
They do vegan sausage rolls at lunchtime, sell vegan Mayo. Staff are quite helpful. Sometimes they simply dont sell things like cauliflower. But otherwise they do have a wide variety of things at good quality. The prices are decent, i like the new aldi incentive although fruit, sandwiches and meals are pricey like anything nowadays. Does get busy and is popular.
