Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status.. All food at this restaurant is certified halal.
Bukhara is one of downtown Cape Town's best formal South Asian restaurants. Lunch is served from 12-3 and dinner from 6-late. It is located on the second floor above the famous Church Street market square and just a stone's throw from the BoKaap mosques. Lunch on the veranda is a refreshing change of atmosphere from where one can watch the bustling marketplace vendors below. In the evening, the cool breeze and live outdoor music from the cafes below make for an enchanting dining experience. If one chooses to sit inside, the charcoal-fired Tandoor ovens are visible from behind a sheet of glass, which shields the patrons from the smell, smoke, and noises of the kitchen.

They have the best curries, but we only go for special occasions cause they r pricey.
This restaurant is a tad pricey for the majority of the locals, but government officials, business people, yuppies, and tourists keep coming back for the fresh, succulent food and terrific table service. Although their masala chai is always made fresh (i.e. no tea bag but instead strained black tea leaves that have been boiled in milk, water, and spices), it is always "just right." Bukhara uses fresh garlic on their generously-sized garlic nan, which complements well their scrumptious curries, a few of which are unique to this and a few other regional restaurants, and which I have not tasted among the subcontinent diaspora communities outside of South Africa.
This restaurant probably has the BEST Indian food in CT. They cannot be approved by the MJC (Muslim Judicial Council) because they serve alcohol - however, their meat comes from fully-halaal butcheries and they don't use alcohol at all when they prepare dishes. I would DEFINITELY recommend the butter chicken and tandoori prawns.
