Very busy not very family friendly however the food was good mashaAllah
Good quality food
So Far so good, been there many times and every month ive got a different favourite.. they even do fish and chips now.
the handmade beef burger is amazing here, i dont have anything else, the biggest burger in birmingham (single patty). I normally take my own sweetcorn relish, worth every penny
Ate there yesterday with my wife. Food was POOR -chicken overcooked, pasta over cooked, chip under cooked, served smelly fish. Seriously bad. The customer service was worse. Truely terrible experience and I will avoid in future.
Absolute quality and a friendly experience. The best steakhouse by far. Brings me in every week all the way from London. Highly recommended.
The Best Food In Birmingham... And It's A Fact Not An Opinion... Friendly Staff... Perfect Service... Family Oriented...Unbeatable Prices... What More Could You Ask For... Iv Been There With My Wife And Now She Refuses To Cook For Me Because She Wants Me To Order From Abu Zayds!
No special decor. I've been here twice and both times the toilets have been out of use. Not suitable for families, it's ok for groups of friends and couples to have a general meal, rather than having a romantic meal because the lack of privacy. Food was very nice though. Staff are in their own worlds.
The food we were served was delicious. The downside is there was no privacy and it was not family orientated as mentioned in other reviews. When we were there the restaurant was signaficantly under-staffed with only two waiters and the staff were under-trained.
the food is just astonishing it is the best restaurant i have been to in birmingham i travelled all the way from london with a few of my work collegues and we were not disappointed at all the food is just 5/5 service 5/5 price 5/5 deserts 5/5 over all this place is the 1 in birmingham so if you are going for a meal from out of town then make this your number 1 pitstop
This place is disgusting the upstairs family room is unclean the tables are dirty along with the cutlery. To call this a family room is a joke ! As for the food the steak arrived with there so called special sauce ? What a joke it was ketchup on top ! It looks busy always downstairs but not really a family place and the hygiene standards are poor big time. The city council need to check this place regularly.
Not family orientated!
Good food, bad decor. As someone else pointed out, the family areas upstairs are really terrible. This is the sort of placfe you go to for the quality of the food rather than the decor I guess. Judging by the fact that it is always rammed full of people whenever I go past it, it must be doing something good! Upstairs toilets were bad, which makes me wonder about the hygiene in the rest of the place. Prices are average for Coventry Road. For families, you are better off going to Dubai Express across the road. For groups of men, this place and Bader (a couple of doors away) are perfect.
Excellent food. Very good staff. Highly recommended!
Excellent food. Good service. Food could be a little bit more chilli but then you may not call it Arabian food. Highly recommend mixed grill. Fantastic
The food at Abu Zayd's is quite simply fantastic and the value for money immense. The portion sizes your given are truly huge "“ its like dining out in a restaurant in the US "“ im certainly not complaining. The balance of spices in the food is perfect and its always cooked to perfection. My only gripe with the place would be the fact that they don't have a card machine. You'd think any self respecting restaurant would have a card machine in this day and age "“ its not like its exactly a new innovation or even difficult to implement. On my last visit, i ordered takeaway and when it was all cooked and ready, I attempted to pay only to be told they don't accept card. Realising I only had my credit card on me, I was reluctant to withdraw cash from the atm across the road due to the extra charge levied. But then again, I was looking forward to the food and very hungry and so thought its only an extra couple of pounds so who cares. However, when attempting to withdraw money "“ the atm told me my card issuer would not authorise this type of transaction. Realising i had absolutely no way of paying for the food and being reluctant to stand in the kitchen and wash dishes, I had to dash away (without the food as that was still waiting for me in the restaurant) "“ a highly embarrassing event purely due to Abu Zayds living in the stone age. Having been a regular there, and not wanting to be recognised after this embarrassing event "“ I've had to return in a number of different disguises "“ ranging from the traditional fake beard and mustache to the more extreme darth vader mask. I think I may try a burkha next time. Please Abu Zayds come out of the iron ages and into the 21st century. Card is the new cash.
Service pretty hectic, but suppose only been there when it's busy, never the less. Only tried the burger as it was advertised on the radio. Large portion of chunky chips and good burger, however was ruined by there so called special sauce, which tasted like thousand island dressing or a mixture of ketchup and Mayo. If having the burger dint have the sauce! Didn't try Arabic food, but experience tells me if a restaurant is constantly busy, the food can't be bad. The customers seemed happy and plates were left almost empty. Will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu.
Really excellent food, big portions. Shawarma is especially nice. Their special milkshakes are popular too. They've recently redecorated the upstairs dining space and it's much better than before. There are more tables now and ladies/families can make their own little space with the portable separation boards. Service is good overall, sometimes a bit slow but the food and atmosphere make up for it. I highly recommend this restaurant!
this place is good, dont know to much about arabian food but very good. the t-bone steak is nice and portions are more then adequate. Nice clean environment. Helpful staff. Good Value.
Fantastic food, big portion, good environment. A
Food-10/10 Service-10/10 Portions-15/10 Mens Decor-10/10 Womens Decor-1/10 I can not enjoy this place with my wife as the family area, is so dark and dingy and of a low standard compared to the main seating area.
First impression the places looks very nice, very lively atmosphere, very busy. Ordered a mix grill with some rice. The portions were extremely generous and the food was very nice. Also ordered a mix fruit juice, The juice was as fresh and pure as could be. Fresh fruit was fed into the top of a machine and pure juice came out the bottom. I was well impressed! Ordered a grilled salmon steak with pasta takeaway. Also great, cant fault this place! *****
Great food, been here quite a few times. Only been open several months but is always full. Everything is freshly cooked, so there maybe a little wait. The food is delicious. Lovely atmosphere. Try the flame grilled chicken and the chicken steak. Yum!
Other than the beef burger that they do an excellent job on the rest of the food is really terrible... Service is not very good. I have eaten from here 3 times and all 3 times the order was wrong...
The food was terrific. The atmosphere was very lively and we felt really relaxed. The grilled chicken and rice was delicious. Very tasty my mouth waters just thinking about it. The hand pressed Beefburger was gigantic and easily the best i've had. We went just before closing the waiter did explain that certain items on the menu may not be available this late as everything is made fresh and nothing is kept for the next day. Overall this has to be the best food joint in Brum.
Had the chicken with rice. Best rice i've ever eaten the chicken was also great. My wife had the lamb kouzi also with rice, she licked the plate clean. Negative points very busy had to wait for table but then again thats a sign of the popularity of the place.
Poor place. Service rubbish. Really did not feel welcome or looked after. Food: right, when I went and ordered, the waiter returned to say we don't have lamb today. Considering most the menu is lamb... That's pretty poor. I had shish taouk which is a safe arab dish. But it was pretty bad, low grade chicken which was not properly cooked. My friend had some form of chicken which had fat mixed into it. Grilled chicken with fat? What the hell.
Have tried the Cheeseburger. This is handpressed in house made, you can see the pattees in the counter. I have to say this is the best burger I have tried in the UK. I don't think it would be inaccurate to say it is a gourmet quality burger, noone else does it like this, I have been having it almost weekly and highly recommend it. The meal comes with steak chips which are also very good if a little over abundant but that's nitpicking. The T-bone steak on the other hand was average, at least the one I had or maybe I was unlucky. My rating applies to the burger !
The steak has to be one of the best I have tasted, which is coated with a mouth watering red sauce. The rice is delicious with chicken shawarma or with any other meat. I'm not really a fish eater, however, they do make a mouth watering grilled fish. The owners are sincere practising brothers, and they are always trying their best to keep their customers happy.
The food is BOOM and and everything on the menu is delicious.Been here on a reguler basis now and the food just seems to get better everytime. The T-Bone steak is the best ive had and the sauce they put on it is very nice. The rice, pasta, mix grill, beefburgers and the whole grilled fish are mouth watering. The milkshakes are superb aswell especially the Abushake I think im addicted to it. Excellent service and very freindly staff. Keep it up lads well done.
Recently went here, and although i am not a big fan of arab food in general, i was still dissapointed. The steak in particular was tough and i did not like the sauce they used on it. The rice accompanying it however was VERY good although I probably wouldnt eat here again
Really good restraunt, very warm, and atmosphere is great, excellent food, clean and heathly, drove from london, have to say you have to try it to believe it! Keep up the good work boys
Great place. Claen smart place. Very lively atmosphere. Food delicous and brilliant value for money, not the usual bland Middle Eastern, Abu Zayds food is spicy and seems very healthy. Brilliant!
