Excellent -- flavorful and authentic -- karahi chicken, and good naan. The service is good too.
Get the Karhai gosht! Best in the nation!

Went there the first time and was not pleased with the food at all. On the benifit of doubt I gave them a second chance an nothing changed. I will absolutly not recommend this restaurant to anyone going out to enjoy a meal with their family. Save your money and taste buds!
I loved this place. The server was nice. the owner let us pray when we needed to. the food was great.
Best chicken tikka (Paki style) in all of US. We have eaten in NJ, NY, Houston, etc. but this is the best of them all. Chicken karahi is fantastic also. Not to be missed if you are in Houston.
My favorite place for biryani in Houston (and I've been to many Indo-Pak restaurants here). (Zaika in Sugar Land and Mayuri are my next favorites.)
Food was okay, I wouldn't dine in though.
Good food but Smells like a Pakistani hospital. They can definitely do with little less ferneeeel (floor cleaning liquid).
Ordered seekh kabab, qorma, rice and naan, The kabab and naan were very good. Qorma didn't really taste like qorma, more like regular salan.
food is not all that. It used to be pretty good, I remember. I'd take my business elsewhere. no offense.
The only good thing about this place was samosas...otherwise the food is not good at all...have stopped going there completely...
The food is less then the ordinary too salty and no taste. They really have a bad customer service.I wont recommend anyone to go there specially when you are in houston area where you have a lot of good desi resturant around
Stopped in here for some chai. Very clean place with a grocery store next door. They also have a paan station in the corner. Only had the chai though. It was pretty good.
What is all the hype about this place? Went after all the recommendations, was very dissapointed on the service and quality of food. Nihari was one boti slapped in some curry. Was very embarassing taking family guest over. Dont know if I caught them on a bad day or what, but there are better options for desi food in Houston
It's been a while since i have been there but it's def not the same. chicken corn soup and fried chicken are very good. entrees are not as good as they used to be. they're average now. hopefully they can turn the corner.
I was visiting Houston from Dallas and expecting a nice meal but what I got was just a waste of money. This place does not know what BIRYANI is and someone who does not know how to cook Biryani does not deserve to call themselves "ASIAN REST". DONT go their if you want to have some good quality food.
I lived away from houston for many years. I didn't miss the smog, the tasteless strip malls and big box stores. I didn't miss the horrible traffic and subsequent road rage. I didn't miss pickup trucks, cowboy boots and multi-million dollar baptist megaplexes. What I missed more than anything was oil with karahi chicken served on plastic plates with spotted dirty silverware. I missed dollar tea in styrofoam cups. I missed buttered tandoori naan crispy on the outside of steaming dough. I missed the segregated singles/family seating. I missed double-checking my $5/person bill. Royal is good as it gets. It's the reason to live in Houston.
Pretty Good Food, with Good Service, always consistent
pretty good, good desi resturaunt. chicken corn soup is THE BEST. it matches golden woks soup, if anyone cares..
Royal was the place to goto back in the 90's. But since then Royal has not done enough to keep their customers happy. The Houston area has been great to Royal but even still they refuse to serve food in real plates. (Take a look at their china cabinet on the right). Also the place has a very bad toilet smell. If you go there for a quick bite then the place is not bad. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILY ON AN OUTING TO THIS PLACE! Try the karahi chicken and the kulfi
I have lived in Houston in late 90s and this restaurant has good Pakistani menu. I have moved to Michigan, but recently was in Houston for few weeks on a project and this restaurant was a blessing. Try their Bun-Kabab and Falooda. Excellent. You will remember Karachi.
"A place favored by families because it has a separate section for family seating. Famous for it's sizzling Bar-B-Q/Grill plate, Karahi Gosht, Nihari, Brain Masala... in general all the dishes here are very tasty. The place is very big and can easily fit a couple of hundred people, the restaurant is well kept and clean. Try their home-made Kulfi. Adjacent to the resturant is the Royal sweet and bakery. The downside is that this place is self-service only."
