About Al Taib

Al-Taib Boulangerie opened its first store in November 1995 on Guy Street in Montreal. A small shop with a big heart, it was one the first bakeries to introduce specialties of the Middle East to the downtown sector. Coupled with very affordable prices, this little taste of Lebanon soon grew to be one of Concordia Universityıs popular eateries. Open 24 hours.

We went there on a friend's recommendation. Found out that the two small shops on guy street are only for take out and they don't offer sit down menu and the corner shop on Maissoneuve is the real restaurant. The small shops only sell piza and various kinds of breads and have a salad buffet. All three shops are within a minute walk of each other. We went there to try Zatar and shawarma. The small shops told us to go to the restaurant if we wanted Shawarma. In the end we end up doing takeout of Zatar, spicy beef bread and Sojouk from the small shop and then had a sit down lunch at the restarant and ordered mix shawarma platter and beef burger meal. The beef pattie was pretty bland but meat quality was good. The meal came with coleslaw and fries which were just like any other place. The mix shawarma plate had chicken and beef shawarma with side of rice, tabouleh and potatoes. I felt the meat was under seasoned, tabouleh was good but potatoe and rice were nothing special either. The zatar bread was pretty good, although I have had better ones before, and the meat breads were good as well. I would say the over all food was above average but I will not go back to the full service restaurant as I am sure I can find better shawarma else where.

One of the BEST pizza places in Montreal. The chicken pizza is amazing! It is pretty greasy to warn all the health conscious folks out there but I like it that way so no complaints. Always busy, everyone in mtl has probably tried Al-taib atleast once. They also serve variety of other middle eastern food.

Seems to be open 24hrs. Halal pizza place in the heart of downtown Montreal. They have a few other items items like Lebanese pastries and a Mediterranean salad bar. But it's known for fresh made oven pizza. The pizza is not as "rich" as it use to be in its early years which is disappointing. But you can still count on getting a delicious pizza fix any time of the day or night!

Very afordable. They're now open on the McGill campus, and on Sherbooke street not far from the Mcgill campus. Been a customer since it opened more than 10 years ago. Very friendly and open 24 hours on Guy street!

very good pizza. lots of different toppings and the price is not too bad. Also they have a second floor if you want to eat there. Would recommend to all university students near concordia...

I visited Montreal this weekend and had a chance to visit this place.. it's conveniently located on the Concordia campus... I had a couple of slices of pizza which were very good (I had the "Chicken" as well as the "Mexican", and the price was good (only about $2/slice) On the other hand, I found the service to be lacking somewhat... I understand they were very busy, but they were very abrupt and rushed... that's my only complaint with this place... Would be nice if they opened one up in Ottawa. PS: Cheers to Iram for his comments about Muslim Unity...

A must for any Concordia student- the pizza is good and cheap, the service is fast. I moved away 3 years ago but every time I am in town, I try to go to Al Tayeb. And in response to the brother who asked if they were Shia, yes, I believe they are, but what does it matter? With all that is happening in the world these days, one would think that people would get their priorities straight and stop worrying about petty issues such as "oh no, did a Shia make my food?" Unity is a Fard, many of us forgot that.

Look. I'm Israeli and a Zionist. I'm pretty active too. I don't usually hang out at Halal restaurants. But Al Tayeb has the best cheapo pizza slices, always fresh, always good and their hummus is outstanding and then there's all these Lebanese baked goods. I don't know what they're called (I just point). They are awesome too. And the resto is at Guy and De Maisoneuve. I wish it was at Bleury!
