I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately this was an extremely disappointing experience, especially considering the price point and how the restaurant is marketed online. I booked this restaurant during our first trip to Japan as a special birthday experience for my daughter after reading many positive reviews and seeing the premium branding surrounding the wagyu and teppanyaki experience. Unfortunately, the reality did not match the expectations being presented. The restaurant itself was surprisingly difficult to locate. There is no clear signage outside, and we actually walked past it initially because nothing clearly indicated the entrance. Inside, the restaurant is also much smaller and narrower than expected, with only a few high-backed booth seats and the chef’s cooking area hidden at the back. What disappointed me most was the significant disconnect between the experience being marketed and the actual experience delivered. The online presentation creates the expectation of an immersive premium teppanyaki dining experience where guests watch the chef prepare the meal in front of them. That was the entire reason I booked this restaurant. Instead, we were seated, briefly shown the wagyu before cooking, and then the dishes simply arrived at the table afterwards. We were never invited to watch the cooking process, despite that being what many international diners reasonably associate with teppanyaki dining. To be fair, the chef and staff were polite and hospitable, and the wagyu itself was clearly premium quality. However, premium ingredients alone do not justify such high prices when the overall experience feels minimal, restrictive, and emotionally flat. For religious reasons, we specifically requested the steak to be cooked well done. Despite asking twice, my daughter’s steak still arrived pink inside. At that point, I felt uncomfortable continuing to send it back again because, as an international guest in Japan, I wanted to remain respectful and culturally considerate. However, guests should not feel hesitant advocating for clearly communicated dietary requirements. The rest of the meal also felt very underwhelming for nearly ¥24,000. The soup lacked flavour, the vegetable portions were extremely small, and dishes were not explained. I ordered fish, which was cooked well, but even simple details felt lacking. I ordered a Sprite with lemon, and first the drink was forgotten, then I was told they do not provide lemon slices. These may sound like small things, but when you are paying premium fine-dining prices, attention to detail matters. I was also disappointed that a course menu we originally wanted was unavailable after 5:30pm, despite our reservation being at 6pm. This information was not clearly communicated beforehand. Had we known, we would have changed our reservation time. What saddened me most is that I had specifically informed the restaurant in advance that this was for my daughter’s birthday and our first visit to Japan because I wanted this to be a memorable experience for her. Instead, despite spending a significant amount of money, we left still hungry enough to go elsewhere afterwards for dessert and additional food. Ultimately, despite the premium pricing, this experience felt far more transactional than memorable. While the wagyu quality itself was good and the staff attempted to be polite, the overall experience simply did not align with the immersive luxury teppanyaki dining experience being marketed online. For nearly ¥24,000, I expected significantly more attention to detail, hospitality, interaction, flexibility, and overall atmosphere. Sadly, we left feeling gravely disappointed rather than impressed. Personally, I would not return or recommend this restaurant to those specifically seeking a truly immersive, interactive teppanyaki experience, as that was not the experience we received.
