Mi Amor Walsall Road, Great Barr Birmingham 👇🏼 ⭐ Overall Rating: 6/10 Before I start, it’s worth mentioning that we visited on just the second day after opening, so some of this feedback may simply come down to teething issues. First impressions… the café looks lovely! The décor is modern, clean and inviting, Seating available inside & outside, there’s plenty of parking available. As soon as we arrived, we were seated straight away, which was a great start. Here’s what we ordered… 🥤 Lemonade Unfortunately, this wasn’t a great start. It arrived warm and wasn’t drinkable, so we asked for a replacement. The second one came out cold, but it was completely flat. At that point, we didn’t want to complain again. ☕ Iced Caramel Latte A pretty standard latte. It was nice enough, although I think it could have done with a little more caramel syrup. It tasted like there was only one pump. 🍓 Strawberry Daiquiri I really liked that it was made using fresh strawberries, but it wasn’t quite what I’d expect from a daiquiri. It was simply blended strawberries served as a drink, whereas I’d expect it to be blended with ice to give it that frozen texture. It was also served overflowing down the sides of the glass, and no one wiped it before bringing it over. It’s a small detail, but presentation makes a big difference. 🥪 Tuna Sweetcorn Toastie Nice enough, but nothing that really stood out. 🥚 Eggs Royal This was probably my favourite savoury dish. The smoked salmon was really good quality, and overall it was full of flavour. 🍫 French Toast with Chocolate Sauce This was delicious! Definitely one for those with a sweet tooth, and easily enough for two people to share. One thing that stood out was the service. As the food was brought over, the servers didn’t seem confident about which dishes they were carrying and were relying on us to confirm what we’d ordered. That’s something I’m sure will improve as the team settles in. Overall, although there were a few issues with the drinks and service, the food itself was flavoursome and had plenty of potential. Would I go back? Yes. Given that it was only their second day of opening, I’m happy to give them another try once they’ve had a bit more time to settle in. I think with a few improvements, this could become a really nice local brunch spot.
