Went to Loulan for a Xinjiang feast and I left pretty happy. The place is quite big with plenty of seating, and the staff were really friendly. I liked how they explained things like where the cutlery is (in a drawer on the side of the table), brought water straight away, and gave a heads up when food was hot so I could be careful. Ordering is pretty smooth. There’s a machine near the front for takeaway, and for dine in you just scan a QR code at the table. If needed, staff can also bring an iPad for you to order on. You pay at the end and there is a 1.2% card surcharge. Food wise I ordered three things: 🍢 Lamb Skewer (big chunk) $9 - seasoned lamb pieces, and you can choose the spice level. I went with mild. Tender enough, but smaller than I expected. 🍜 Lamb Noodles with Snake Beans & Eggplant $28 - hand pulled noodles with lamb (or beef option), snake beans, capsicum, wombok, lots of garlic and soft eggplant in a rich savoury sauce. Huge portion and just really good. 🍡 Pumpkin sticky rice (3pc) $8 - sticky, chewy pumpkin rolled in sesame then fried and flattened. Slightly sweet and a bit oily, but really tasty. Would’ve been perfect with a bit more crisp on the outside. Overall a solid spot and I’d definitely go back, especially for those noodles.
