Lighthouse Mosque
620 42nd Street, Oakland, CA
The Lighthouse Mosque is a new organization initiated by Zaid Shakir. When the former Masjid Al-Iman in Oakland, California relocated to Berkeley, Zaid Shakir had the foresight to keep and maintain the property. Thus, the Lighthouse Mosque began. Formerly on MLK Drive, the mosque has since relocated to a larger facility on 42nd Street.

This is a truly beautiful masjid mashAllah. An amazing community, touching and thought-provoking khutbas. It's small but there is always space somehow, subhanAllah

Very good mix of young and old, as well as Arab and African American. Diverse group of students, activists and professionals as well as local residents. Came here for Jummah recently and was pleasantly surprised. Downside is that there is not that much space inside and the rest of the building (not part of the mosque) seems to be a little run down, although the neighboring area and businesses are active and secure.

I have been to this masjid a few times. It is a decent sized masjid with a very active community. IT has a very diverse congregation and offers lots of activities. It is located at the border of Oakland and Berkeley.

Easily one of the best masajid in the Bay. Imam Abdul Lateef is extremely approachable and the community is diverse ranging from white and black converts to Arabs and Pakistanis. Imam Zaid frequents this masjid as well mashAllah
