The Islamic Message Foundation is a cultural center for Shi'a Muslims in the greater New Orleans area. It is not exclusively a mosque but it does serve as a place for prayer on special occasions. The center has recently moved from the General de Gaulle and Florence Drive location. Community is largely Arab and Indian/Pakistani.

I visited this center on a fairly regular basis for 3 years. They have some very good Brothers here that make the environment very nice and welcoming. However the management seems to go out of their way to make anyone who is not Iraqi feel un welcome. When I first started going here it was almost all an Arabic speaking congregation. However this has changed and it has become very multicultural. Those in charge of the center seem to go out of their way to not recognize the new multicultural needs of the community. There are some nice Brothers there who made me feel very welcome, but as a convert the governing body of the center made me feel very unwelcome.
The IMF has moved to a new, larger facility at 3929 W Metairie Ave. Great atmosphere and community members.
