Masjid ar-Rahmah

7103 Burthe Street, New Orleans, LA

Sunni (Traditional)

Located a block and a half from the Anthropology annex, Masjid ar-Rahman serves as a convenient place of prayer for many students at Tulane University. Most participants walk over to the mosque from Tulane University where many are graduate students or teaching staff. The mosque is located near a bus route which allows easy access from other parts of the city. Multicultural with most worshippers coming from the Middle eastern and Asian countries.

Regular juma prayers at 12:30. Separate space for women. Street parking is limited. There's no official sign as this building isn't registered as mosque and is operated by Muslim student association of Tulane.

I've one been a few times. Small mosque, with small curtained area for women. I liked the khutbahs (when I could hear them).

My only complaint is the Mosque should have some type of distinguishing characteristic to let people, especially travelers and/or locals who are new to that part of town that they're at the right place. There is no visible sign or even crescent moon symbol on roof. The neighborhood is a student area that has fraternity houses.
