Every menu item is made fresh and made to be one of the best you've ever tasted. Shelby's is a fast casual shawarma chain born in London, Ontario, on a mission to modernize the shawarma in unspeakable ways while also helping to spread happiness and the appetite for good food and good flavour in communities.
A halal certificate is clearly visible on the premises. From the management: 'Shelby’s proudly serves 100% hand-slaughtered Halal meat at all our locations, ensuring adherence to Islamic dietary laws. We source all of our hand-slaughtered protein options from reputable suppliers from across Ontario.'
Score reflects a halal certificate on file.
This place is an absolute joke - they are frauds save your hard earned $$. I paid basically $17 for the crispy butter chicken bowl and it was almost entirely rice and sauce, hardly any actual toppings or real chicken. It’s a shame that this is what has come of the food industry. They will gladly charge $15+ for bowls that give you just rice or lettuce, and skimp out on quality ingredients or the protein. I took the bowl up to the staff member and the guy basically tells me that they are forced by owners and management to provide no more than 4ounces of meat. I probably had less than 2 ounces in my bowl….I suspect that because I indicated take out and decided to eat there instead they probably thought they would get away with it. Why on earth would anyone pay this much for all rice and fried onion with a few chunky pickle pieces and red onion? I’d love to know if the people working here would pay that much to receive that little. There is no common decency left, it’s all been eaten up by greed. In this economy when folks are struggling to keep up with rising food costs, those in business should prioritize customer service and have some standard for their paying customers who are choosing them over another establishment to eat. Their staff should reflect a certain level of care and common sense. The guy did offer to give me more chicken after I gave my feedback and showed him the bowl but I refused - it’s the principle. He never apologized and or showed any empathy. He could barely look at the bowl I was showing him…it was our first and last time ever going here or supporting this franchise. There are much better options and I hope in time they’ll recognize this and do something before it’s too late. At the end of the day, the real damage is to their own business and sustainability plans.
