We are long-time customers who go here whenever we are in town. I bought an unlabeled bag of frozen chicken cutlets from this establishment and told it was halal . However when I went home I looked up cases of cutlets and Tyson's cutlets looked identical. Next, we googled the code on the bag "p-5839." The search result showed Tyson chicken cutlets. The next time we came we ordered prepared food and asked the older man about the cutlet situation. He didn't have the boxes, he said, and we should trust him. We asked if he had boxes for any of the other items on the menu, like the turkey on the subs. He didn't. He became upset with us saying we should trust him. He said to my kids (ages 10 and 12) "you're drinking Pepsi without knowing if it's halal!" That tells you about their limited understanding of halal"”as if sugar and water needs to be Islamically slaughtered! After all the arguing he produced one box showing halal "tenders""”-still not cutlets. We asked his daughter (wearing tight clothes and no hijab) for a halal certificate. She pointed to a food safety certificate. \r\n\r\nIn summary, it is doubtful whether they really understand what halal slaughter is. And even if they do, their defensive reaction is certainly concerning for anyone who takes their religion seriously. The next halal place I went to showed us a box without issue.
