About Steers
Steers is a quick service restaurant franchise originating from South Africa. It sells mainly flame-grilled beef and chicken burgers with soft drinks, chips and other sundries. Steers' was founded in the 1960s when the founder of the company, George Halamandaris, visited the United States and decided that he would bring the fast-food concept back to South Africa. The first Steers restaurant opened in Jeppe, Johannesburg in 1970. The chain expanded, introducing drive-thru restaurants in 1997 and a delivery service from 2008. Steers is now found throughout South Africa and in seventeen other countries across Africa and southern Europe.
