We were born in South Africa, with a blend of Portuguese and British culture along the way. It all started in Mozambique, home of the hot sun, rich soil... and African Bird’s Eye Chillies. Also known as PERi-PERi. Small but mighty, these chillies have been used for centuries in local Mozambiquan cooking. The Portuguese then added a squeeze of lemon and kick of garlic to make the first PERi-PERi sauce. Used on just about anything, they found it was the ultimate baste for flame-grilling spatchcocked chicken. And it wasn’t long before two friends in Johannesburg came to experience the taste of PERi-PERi chicken and Nando’s was born. Fast forward a few years, restaurants and Fino Pittas and today, the Nando’s PERi-PERi you know and love still pays homage to those roots.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. From the management: 'Our halal chicken is authorised by leading Halal Food Authorities. The quality, welfare and health of our chicken is a priority and our UK suppliers follow the strict Red Tractor Farm Assurance Standards. Our halal chickens are pre-stunned to minimise suffering and fear before they're hand-slaughtered. All our halal products are kept separate at our suppliers and in our distribution centres. And our restaurants with halal-friendly options are only allowed to receive chicken from our approved distribution centre. In these restaurants, we only serve chicken that's certified halal. And as we don’t handle any pork ingredients, there’s no chance of cross-contamination'

Great food as always from Nandos! This spot does get busy at peak times, waited around 15-20 minutes to get seated. Was frustrating that they seemed to serve not based on group size but just whoever is at the front of the queue - so spent a long time waiting for a group of 6 to be seated when most of us were twos or threes. Overall though service was very efficient and friendly staff all round, with delicious food - highly recommend the Fino Pitta.
Came with my lovely girlfriend to Cardiff Saint David’s Nando’s, we was instantly sat and asked in a choice of seating, when asking for extra condiments, Julie was quick and very quick to cater towards our needs, Julie made this great experience that little much better
I had a great experience at Nando’s Cardiff. The food was fresh, hot, and full of flavour — exactly what you expect from Nando’s. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the peri-peri sauce hit the spot. The staff were friendly and efficient, even though it was fairly busy, and the restaurant was clean and well organised. Service was quick and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Overall, a solid Nando’s experience and definitely a place I’d visit again when I’m in Cardiff.
Whilst souvenir shopping during our visit to Cardiff, we stopped by the St. David’s Shopping Center. And whilst we were there, we asked an employee for a lunch recommendation. She quickly recommended Nando’s. We’d never heard of Nando’s, since I don’t believe they’ve made it out to the west coast of the US just yet. But based on the recommendation and the description of spicy/seasoned chicken (YUMM), we checked it out. We were very pleased with Nando’s. Nando’s gives kind of a semi-formal vibe. Like, upper class fast food. We were seated, and then shown how to order on our phone, right from the table. Then we were given our drink cups for self-serve, and shown the self-serve utility station. You just grab your own preference of sauces, silverware and seasonings (salt/pepper) whenever you’re ready. When the food is ready, they bring it to your table. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. When the food came out, we were very pleased. The chicken was tender and juicy, with lots of flavor. I got a plate of chicken, and my wife got a chicken sammich. The spicy rice was also very good. The fries (or “chips” in the UK) were good, with a nice seasoning on them as well. The maca maca cheese was just ok, I thought. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was really good. I’d say the prices were not too bad, especially by today’s standards (dang inflation), and again, it’s a little elevated over fast food. All in all, we were happy with our Nando’s lunch and would recommend it to anyone, especially if you’ve never tried it.
Horrible, dont ever come to this nandos. The staff were incredibly rude, avoided eye contact at all cost. The food came and it was wrong, I ordered chips but instead got spicy rice. When I did take it back the staff had horrible expressions on their face as if it was my fault when I clearly asked for chips. My chicken leg was also under cooked, it was still pink. Unacceptable! Never come here, it is not worth the money for these rude staff and the wait was way too long, we waited about 25 mins.
