Halal summary

The menus clearly state that halal food is served. From the management: 'Here at Packsun Halal Chicken, we are concerned with the halal slaughter of animals such as beef, lamb and poultry. To be halal certified the animal must be facing Mecca, have its throat cut while still alive and then ritually sacrificed by a Muslim who recites a prayer dedicating the slaughter to Allah.'

This is a halal restaurant located in the Parkchester neighborhood of the Bronx serving an eclectic menu of rotissierie chicken (unusual among halal restaurants), fried chicken, Bengali cuisine, hamburgers, fried seafood, and sandwiches. There are about 5-6 tables inside with seating for about 20 people. Parking is available on the street, but you probably want to leave the 1930 Brough Superior SS100 at home. This reviewer tried the Packsun Burger (a hamburger with onions and mushrooms) with French fries and a soda ($9). The hamburger was grilled, juicy enough, and completely average. The fries have that familiar Kennedy Fried Chicken flavor. The chicken burger ($4) contained a patty from ground chicken and was similarly inoffensively average. The rotisserie chicken remains to be reviewed. Overall a nice addition to the slim halal pickings in the Bronx. Also, this restaurant is owned by the same proprietor as Neerob.
