Balkh Bakery & Deli

I've been here a few times, since it's right next to the halal food store. The pastries are good and seeing how there's such little selection in Fremont, they do the job. The pastry chef is trained in France, I've been told. Not bad, but the place would be better if it had a serious espresso bar. I've also had the Afghani food. Given the vast choice we have in Fremont, it does the job but that's really all. I'd probably come here more if the place were done up a bit more and turned into a true cafe or restaurant, since I'm a sucker for the full experience.

Haven't tried anything on the menu, but the pastries are very good. Always newly made and fresh.
