Waterfront Pizza

I spoke to two different staff, both were Arab speaking, though one was clearly Christian Arab (had a chain of a cross around his neck) but both told me clearly that the chicken and lamb were halal. The second guy went into more details and explained the exceptions are shawarma and the wings - both of those are not halal even if you order chicken or lamb shawarma or the chicken wings. So it essentially leaves their kabab plates, and the pizzas. Some of the pizza dishes do have pepperoni, and they also serve beer. The seating is at the back and also outside on the deck which has a fabulous view of a small lake. They also serve sheesha (aka hookah), but that's only after 3pm. I ordered the chicken kabab, which was good but not something I would characterize as special. I found the seasoning a little on the bland side but some hot sauce quickly fixed that problem for me. The portion was large but not exceptionally so give the chicken kabab plate runs you $12. Overall, I'd come back - good food, good portion and a fantastic view would be the reasons.

The food is great. I asked everytime I go if the meat is halal and am always told the chicken is halal. The owners are muslim I believe, members of the staff are seem praying behind the restaurant regularly. I don't understand why they just don't serve halal pepperoni and all halal meat. This would appease their non-Muslim clientele (which is huge in Foster City). I want to eat here regularly, but these reviews make me uncomfortable. Either the staff needs to be better trained when speaking with customers or better yet clearly state what is halal, so we can be confident as diners that one day the chicken is halal, the next day it is not. A lot of people have an issue with Restaurant Depot halal, unfortunately most restaurants shop at Restaurant Depot. If this does not qualify has halal for you personally, be wary of any restaurant unless you explicitly speak with the owner. Alcohol is served.

Went there on 9 July 2013. Both the chefs in the restaurant confirmed that NONE of the meat is HALAL. Kindly remove this restaurant from the website/application.

They only verified lamb as halal the chicken is from restaurant depot so not sure if it is hand cut so the choice is yours. The lamb plate is good..

I asked the halal status of the meat they served several times to the staff and got different answers. So I wanted to share what I understood (which is hopefully the final right answer). The chicken and lamb is halal but beef and ground beef is not, although I've been told ground beef was halal before( as far as I understand, some stuff says beef is halal when there is no pork product in it, although the meat is not certified halal, I mean slaughtering style is not Islamic). And I am also told there is a halal pepperoni option but I would specifically ask whether it is a certified halal product or not. I didn't confirm it, since I was not interested in pizza at that time.

Great place by the water. They are not really halal much cos they do serve pork. Great place to smoke hookah, watch the view, and sip some mint tea.
