Update: 07/03/26 - The owner has spoken to a relative and apologised and promised to the staff regarding this issue. I'm so glad they are humble to accept and act on customer feedback fast. I shop in Cardiff and swansea exotica. They have good range of products others don't with good price. But.. the butcher department functions based on customers race and served based on your race rather than the waiting line. @ 06/03/26 around 9:40 onwards. I could the the Arabic looking guy getting the meat out. I asked him if he is open to serve, he stated he is getting the things out, so I didn't push him to be served. He was very lethargic in his movement to get things out, possibly around 1 tray per 80-90secs. I waited 15 mins, around the counter, allowing people to pass. Then I saw his colleague who just entered serving an African lady before me, I was waiting before anyone else. So I didnt speak out and allowed them to serve her. She was the for 10+ mins where she was asking for the price and to change this and that. Another Pakistani customer lady then entered the shop, and soon after another butcher staff arrived. The Arabic looking guy took him to the side and they started to serve her. I kept my cool, paid for the items i basket, without reapproaching the racist staff, paid and left to another local halal butchers. I had a baby crying on by arms and they kept ignoring me. I also had a surgery in few hours which made me feel even worse. This isn't the first time I have been ignored. I am very patient. But with the baby in my arms for 25+ mins waiting to be ignored continuously, not good. Normally The Arabic looking guy would serve Arabic speaking people although he speaks English well. African guy would serve African or Arabic speaking, always ignored. If I'm lucky there maybe a Pakistani or Bangladeshi to serve me, otherwise I have to wait until all other Ethnicity and women to be served before me although they join the queue after me. So future actions customers can take call out the racism and be authoritative informing them your number in queue. Exotica if you read the comments please address this type of racism. Otherwise it would be a 5 star.
