Authorized halal by an Islamic organization.. From the website: 'Mary Brown's is pleased to announce that our menu is now 100% Halal Certified at many of our Canadian locations'
Mary Brown's is a Canadian fast-food restaurant which mainly serves fried chicken and 'taters' or potato wedges. For 50 years, we've been crafting Mary's Chicken and Taters by hand in every store - starting with whole, fresh, local Canada Grade A chicken and farm fresh potatoes. We choose only premium ingredients and prepare every meal with care. We've always done it this way; we always will.

The chicken was o.k and after a while in your mouth it tastes like grease and the chicken was old and the clerk did not deal with me politly, it is not A-1
Edmonton mosques have proved and claimed that Mary Brown's chicken is not halal and they also have said that if people have questions about the halal chicken, then they should contact ISNA. So I did and they emailed me and said that it not halal and Mary Brown's was just using the "ISNA halal" name. I have clearly lost trust in Mary Brown's chicken. Someone else has mentioned in the comments saying that their gravy which they claim is halal, is actually not because I also have contacted GFS and asked them about it.
I have heard that the supplier was using chicken which isn't halal but the store manager and his employer exported their chicken as halal. Because of this controversy, Edmonton mosques got involved and issued a notice for their misuse of halal products. I think the manager may have changed to a halal supplier but I haven't gone to eat their chicken since the notice was issued in my local mosque. I won't go back either because of loss of trust. I know for sure that their gravy isn't halal since I have talked to MaryBrown's supplier GFS.
An excellent alternative to Fritou if you want to lessen the hot spice intake. Great chicken - both pieces and sandwhich. The Big Mary is pretty filling and very moist. Taters are taters, though I'm not big on their fries - their pretty plain. You and get the either the taters or the fries turned into a poutine, but make sure you ask for the cheese, otherwise it's just gravy. And it makes it a little better. They have Little Mary's and fingers for the little ones.
I like the attitude of the staff. I asked for certification for halal food and they showed me the list of suppliers who supplies halal chicken to them. Staff are friendly and the food was good. I wish some thing like that will open in Fort McMurray, AB
