About Shahnawaz Palace (Banquet Hall)

Shahnawaz Palace is a family run business that set out to fill a need for a true Pakistani restaurant and banquet hall. Our goal was to recreate the authentic taste from back home and we are proud of our achievement in reaching that goal. We really love the community and enjoy doing business with our fellow Pakistanis. We have been in business serving the Pakistani & Indian community since 1995. Shahnawaz Palace opened as a banquet facility in 2001, filling the role of the first authentic Pakistani banquet facility in the Northeast. On top of a banquet facility, we also provide catering services far and wide, from Boston to Virginia and beyond. With a capability of serving several thousand guests, we can provide catering for any occasion.

We went for the Eid buffet with a couple of families from longisland.reached at 12.30 , had called them before to make a reservation. The tables were ready. The ambiance was good. There was a lot of variety to choose from. WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO TASTE IT WITH THE NAAN I FOUND A STEEL WIRE YESSSSS A "STEEL WIRE IN THE BAGARA BAINGAN GRAVY" WHICH I THINK WAS LEFT OUT IN THE DISH FROM THE STEEL SCRUBBER THEY USE TO WASH THE DISHES.I TOLD THE WAITRESS ABOUT IT AND THE GIRL SIMPLY APOLOGISED FOR IT, DID NOT EVEN LET THE MANAGER KNOW.THE MANAGER SHOULD HAVE COME AND TALKED TO US. THE BIRYANI WAS NOT FRESH.THE NIHARI WAS NOT FRESHLY TOO INFACT TASTED LIKE IT WAS PREPARED LONG LONG AGO. Gol gappe were served with paani papri chaat. The soup was not that good.Someone should tell them that the dahi bhalle is not a dessert should have a tangy taste with little hint of sweet in it.What they served was a bowl of bhalle in sweet yogurt.Kids were happy with the fries and chicken nuggets. The halwa poori chole aloo ki sabzi were ok. Rest of the items like the lamb, chicken, paya , goat curry, fish fries, cheese cake , sewaiyyan, rasmalai, gulab jamun....etc were good.I am giving an average rating because they donot care for their customers.Probably will not go there again.

We hosted a party here and we were very pleased. The service was AMAZING! The manager was helping us with getting more tables and the waiters/waitresses were extremely polite. They were having a banquet and everyone at the party loved the food. Some especially good food included the Butter Chicken, fish, and chicken nuggets for kids. Dessert was amazing as well including jello, ice cream, gulab Jamen, ice cream, kulfi, etc. next time you are in the area, make sure you try their food!

My daughter got severe food poisoning from the buffet - though the selection seems good - sometimes quality is more important than quantity. I will not be returning to this place! Despite the good customer service.

Usually have nothing but good reviews here but we held a wedding event and they completely botched the food order by replacing the beef bihari kabob with other random chicken items. We told them on the spot that it was wrong but they refused to correct it and even subsequent phone calls and emails go unanswered. Again, we usually have great experiences but this was very disappointing compounded by their lack of communication.

have been to this place numerous times. easily the largest buffet with variety of apps, entrees, drinks, desserts for everyone no matter age. each item on their huge buffet or service to big crowds may not be the best you ever had, but please people cut them some slack- very hard to please desis. their food is very consistent and i would return. they have had fantastic groupon deals also.

Positive: Large Pakistani buffet with a large variety of items and good drinks. Negative: Food quality and taste has declined over the years and the food on the buffet tables is poorly maintained. Overall: The buffet gives a large variety of low quality Pakistani food and is only worth going to if you are really craving a desi brunch buffet as other Pakistani buffet restaurants in NJ do not compare.

The positive : In comparison to most traditional indopak restaurants, I was pretty shocked to see the variety of food available for the weekend buffet. Exceptional variety offered in the buffet - veg, non-veg, appetizers, desserts, drinks : you name it. They have a great live playback singer on sundays - live entertainment fun for the whole family. The negative : Very poor customer service. If they focused on their customers rather then packing as many people in it would do wonders for their business. Also the seating arrangements are not well thought out. We waited over 45 minutes to be seated even after placing our reservations in the morning - the seating arrangement was very poorly handled. The all-you-can eat buffet is a tad pricey @ 16.99 per person for desi food (kids under 5 are free, over 5 are half price). The verdict : Definately worth a trip if you like variety in good tasting desi food and don't mind sub-par customer service and waiting to be seated.

Shahnawaz was the first pakistani buffet, and has since been the best. No other buffet in the tri-state area, or even nationwide can beat the presentation and quality of the weekend buffet. They are always busy mashAllah so having a reservation helps get your seat faster. The thing about pakistanis at restaurants is that they love to talk even though they are done eating which is why the wait takes longer than expected, so I don't blame Shahnawaz for that. They're service is great and food is ALWAYS great.

Certainly some issuse that does the catering, I had one of the worst experience of my life at this place. Not only the food was absolutely horrible but also the management is extremely rude. When we called back to complaint about the food they did not pay any attention. I would recommend everybody atleast not to cater from them

They have ignorant and rude people working as managers. They certainly don't make you feel relaxed. They expect you to leave right away if you are done. Obviously, they don't know the meaning of hospitality. Also, the quality of food has drastically deteriorated and the price has gone up recently.

Management definitely needs an overhaul. This place has really fallen apart. It has awful service and food. It might've been good back when it initially opened but not anymore. I certainly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The food is musty and the service is terrible.

Was there for a party recently and while the food was great as always the management of the event could have been better. The place was booked until midnight but as guests started to leave around 10:45 the staff started stacking chairs. I work retail so I know a thing of two about trying to leave work exactly on time but you don't act that way in front of paying customers.

They use to be on top, but now they just have fallen...They changed cooks and it went downhill for them...The change happend in the summer of 2008 where one could easily notice a big change in the taste of the food...the food isnt good at all anymore...they should bring back their old cook, because it tasted a lot better when he was around.

The management is unprofessional, and rude. The food is okay. There are kids running around and the management actually asks people getting their food to go sit down if they feel it is getting crowded. God Forbid adults can socialize amongst themselves - their goal is to come in, eat in five mins and get out! They have a lot more people to churn through their doors!

I recently moved to nj, and was pleasantly surprized by the quality of food at shahnawaz, there buffet is excellent and all the food is freshly cooked. since then many of my friends from ny came to shahnawaz and they all said this is the best desi buffet. My complaint with desi resturants is that there food is old, many desi resturants at oak tree road serve old food. At some resturants the food is so old that the meat is black in color. but shahnawaz banquets food is fresh and tasty. Good job shahnawaz.

We just had the worse experience. Before you eat there or decide to have catering from there please be sure to ask how old the food is. Even if you are acclimatized to desi food, the food at Shahnawaz is so disgusting that it will surely would make you sick. When we ate there the food seem stale. It seem like Shahnawaz was serving a week old food. The service, besides being incredibly rude people, they would turn the AC off in the middle of a party on a hot summer night to save money and role up tables while you are having a party, incredibly unprofessional management. I would never eat there.

Horrible place, service was incredibly rude maybe they should hire a real staff rather than have their kids run around and act obnoxious. Same things happened to me they turned off the AC ad its teh summer! Food was ok considering they left things out of our purchased menu. And again kids intruding in on our private family wedding. We rented out hall i don't give a damn if u own it! And yes tried to "clean up ealry" when we still had teh hall for 45 mins. I would never reccomend this hall for any kind of event.

ahem, the place is NOT like in the picture. It is inside a house - or looks like it. An OLD house. Carpeting is awful. Food is so-so, regular desi fare.. biryani or nihari or haleem etc. People who like buffets will tend to like it.

Shahnawaz tends to rip people off in their catering. More than once I have had food which was either undercooked, or very old and rotten. If only their catering was as good as their Sunday buffets which tend to be fresh and satistfying.

I went there to the buffet, the other day, the food was cold, and some of the food wasn't filled up, and the employees were just standing there, and when we asked them to bring more nan, they gave us a dirty look. The service is bad and so is the food and the decor could use more improvement.

Shahnawaz is a pretty big restaurant in Edison that also has Jumah on Fridays. Afterwards everyone gets food from here. The food is pretty good, and the variety is excellent. Everything from Kebabs to different Chicken dishes, and all of them are superior.
