I asked the guy working there (I think he was the owner) whether they served halal meat, and he said that the meat was halal but not zabihah. He said that he knew that the other Shalimar restaurants in the area were the same way; i.e. they did not sell zabihah meat. I think he said that the lamb is zabihah (imported from Australia), but do check and make sure that this is the case before you order. He mentioned something about how all the restaurants in Albany that claim to serve halal meat actually aren't because they all get it from the same supplier, who is apparently not zabihah. I am not completely sure how true this is, but it is something to keep in mind. Bottom line, this restaurant does not serve zabihah meat (except for maybe the lamb), and apparently before ordering at other Albany halal eateries one should specifically ask whether the meat is zabihah and not just halal.
