About Mary Brown's

Mary Brown's is a Canadian fast-food restaurant which mainly serves fried chicken and 'taters' or potato wedges. For 50 years, we've been crafting Mary's Chicken and Taters by hand in every store - starting with whole, fresh, local Canada Grade A chicken and farm fresh potatoes. We choose only premium ingredients and prepare every meal with care. We've always done it this way; we always will.

Delicious fried chicken. I love their Big Mary sandwiches and taters the most. Very tasty. Better than Popeyes or KFC.

I went to this restaurant because I had a craving for fried chicken and popeye's chicken is no longer hand slaughtered. I bought the chicken sandwich combo (Big Mary) which came with a big tub of fries or taters, a can of pop, your choice of salad (macaroni, coleslaw, potato) and of course the sandwich. The sandwich was very satisfying because of the ceamy sauce, soft bun, and the chicken was very tender and tasted great. But the only two downsides for me are the chicken lacked spice and the meal was a bit pricey. But overall it was a good experience.

The new pickering location has No halal signs and the staff are unaware of what halal meat is, and only say yes to the meat being halal to keep you in the restaurant. However Mary browns website lists Pickering location as halal

Chicken burger tastes good. Food is a bit pricey. Will go back for sure!

I liked it a bit better than halal KFC. But it isn't as tasty or spicy as Popeyes. The chicken burger was nice and juicy though. Try it.

I just have to comment on phrase 100% Halal. Either it is Halal or Not Halal but there is no percentage. I personally phoned, Mary Brown Pickering location and spoke with the manager or a lady who confirmed that they use only Maple Lodge chicken which the Maple Lodge has announced on its website to be exclusively Machine cut and not Hand zabiha. They have their own justifications and for people who are strict followers of hand cut zabiha and not the machine cut of Maple Lodge, must inquire before getting lured by the advertisement.

I verified the Halal authenticity when I saw a staff person with the uniform at the Pickering masjid for Jummah, he assured me that all the food is halal, as there is no visible sign on the Halal Authentecity. Overall the food was good if you are into fastfood

The staff had no clue when I questioned whether they used halal food. No halal sign in window. They were certain the meat wasnt even kosher.
