Specializes in hot pots. For those of you not familiar with the type of dish this is not your typical Chinese restaurant food. You make your own dish by picking the soup base, type of meat, noodles, vegetables etc. the meat is cut into thin slices. The soup base is hot and kept on heat. You dip your vegetables or meat into the hot soup base, hold for a few seconds for it to cook and then eat. You'll need to be able to use chop sticks as you won't be able to use a knife and fork with this cuisine. For those looking for a different type of Chinese cuisine I'd definitely recommend it. Halal signs and plaques showing throughout.
My family went but found the food too oily. Overall, not to their taste. But the place looks quite grand and nice though.
I honestly don't know how to enjoy this hotpot. It was recommended as delicious by a friend. But i find the ingredients are blend and tasteless. Even dipping them into the peanut sauce didn't bring out the flavour and taste. If you are in a group, ok to take the package else just choose from ala carte menu. As it can be expensive if it's a package for 2.
There is a plaque with halal sign. Not really a certicficate of HALAL. But the Restaurant name on top of it is "Dong Lai Shun Muslim Restaurant". The hot pot is not my kind of food and I have doubt on the food served. Well can't really ascertained that because no guts to check properly. I will not go back to that restaurant. I don't know, there is no aura of a Muslim restaurant.
It was indeed an experience to try hot pot for the first time. It was a fine Muslim restaurant serving halal food. I tried the mutton hot pot. The restaurant is not well decor and the service is ok. Overall the experience was unique.
We went to this restaurant during our trip to Beijing in December 2008. We had booked a 'mulim private tour' with meals included. 1st visit, our tour guide brought us to their branch somewhere in a quiet neighbourhood area where there is a big supermarket on the ground floor. Our meals were pre-selected by our tour guide and we had their hot pot dinner set. The service is good and the food is nice. We made a second visit on our own to their outlet in one of the malls along Wangfujing street. As we browse thru the menu (english version), we spotted an item in their menu which state 'pork' (almost to the last page of the menu book). We asked the waitress & restaurant manager. They are not able to explain that dish due to language barrier. So, we left the restaurant without having our meals there.
Ate here for dinner with a friend. They have a set menu option for the number of people in your group or an ala carte. I recommend the set menu. For 2 people it was about 345 RMB. Nice staff, I didnt know how to cook on the hot pot, so she saw my despair and did it for us. Being a desi, a little more salt or hot sauce would have made the meal even better. Definitly an experience I'd recommend. Located near the "Times Square" portion of the southeast part of town inside the 3rd ring I believe (maybe even inside the 2nd). It was nice to walk in 'Times Square' after the meal which was about a block or two east I believe but easily to see due to the lights in the evening.
There is a halal plaque on the wall. I don't think it is a certificate but I am not sure. No pork was served. Service is good, food was adequate. It was quite expensive for China standards at around RMB 400 for 4 people (set course) + drinks.
