Shalamar House Restaurant

I have known this place for all my life (25yrs). The owner is a lovely man who 1st started in the early 1970's a time where Indian catering was unheard of! The restaurant decor is nasty and the service is ok, but this is not they're main business, the main business is catering for weddings, and this is where they have always been good! Right - back to the restaurant, food is clean, well cooked and fresh, very popular with the elders!

I had a party there and the food was very good. very home cooked food.

Passing by, you might not think this place is nothing special; however, don’t judge a book by its cover. The food is delicious, the owner is welcoming, and you get the feeling of eating home-made food for a fraction of the price you’d pay elsewhere in the area. We enjoyed the chicken and lamb kebab rolls (£3.50 per roll!!!), amazing curries, and my favourite — the biryanis. Truly a local Whitechapel gem. If you like spicy food, ask for the chilli sauce — but be ready to handle the heat!!
