This is definitely one of my most favourite places to get fresh, halal, and authentic Hakka style Chinese food. I, along with my family have been ordering and eating from Lucky Chinese for the past 13 years. Their fried chicken and chicken corn soup are simply amazing. We have also tried Lucky's catering and all the guests loved the food and asked us where we ordered from.
Renovated and a bit more seating space compared to the other Lawrence location. The portions are generous, food is good & spicy, but the dishes are inconsistent. Unfortunately like most non-muslim owned Hakka places, alcohol is served and the zabihah meat is questionable.
The chicken pakora and Chicken corn soup are excellent. Besides these, if you are addicted to MSG and grease then this is the place to go, otherwise eat at your own peril.
I love their chicken pakoda and schezuan chicken. Fried wontons are good too. Environment is alright, a family restaurant. Service can be a little slow on crowdy days but food is worth it. Wish they would do something about the heating though..gets quite cold sometimes
My review is based on service, atmosphere, and food: Service: The service was very poor. The server’s attitude while taking our order felt indifferent and unwelcoming, as though customer satisfaction was not a priority. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was unimpressive, with dull lighting and outdated utensils. Our soup bowl had chipped edges, and the salt and pepper shaker had visible fungus, as shown in the photo. When I asked the server to replace it, she simply moved the same unclean shaker to another table without cleaning it, which raised serious hygiene concerns. Overall, the dining experience felt unpleasant and discouraging. Food: We ordered chicken corn soup, which I would strongly not recommend. The soup contained ground meat, had an unpleasant taste, and appeared to have been prepared earlier, as it was lumpy and watery, as shown in the photo. We also ordered chili beef and egg fried rice. While both dishes tasted good, they were overly spicy. The portion sizes, however, were generous and reasonable for the price.
