Food and service is very nice, prices are OK. All meat is confirmed halal and they do not sell pork. 8/10
I visited Satay Bar in Brixton last night (Friday) and unfortunately the entire experience was very disappointing. The evening started poorly with the cocktails. There was only one person behind the bar making them, and he clearly had little understanding of proper measurements. The drinks felt inconsistent and poorly balanced, nothing like the well-made cocktails the bar used to be known for when they had real mixologists. The food was even more underwhelming. I ordered a fish dish in sauce, but honestly I’m still not sure what I was served. The fish was dry and hard, topped with onions and peppers that were barely cooked. It came with rice that looked as though it had simply been thrown onto the plate with no care or presentation whatsoever. The whole dish felt rushed and of very poor quality. Service didn’t help the situation either. The waiters seemed very casual and more focused on enjoying themselves than paying attention to customers. We even had to ask for our table to be wiped clean. When the cocktails were finally brought over to our table and to other customers, they were carried by hand rather than on a tray, which felt unhygienic and unprofessional. Considering the fairly steep prices, the overall experience was extremely poor value. It’s a shame because I used to love this place, but sadly it seems to have gone downhill in every sense of the word. Based on this visit, I can’t see any reason for me to return.
