This is the best possible place for you to cater Persian food from. They\'re timely and organized. The food is great. They\'ll really work to accommodate you.

Don't go here if you like good service. It's so bad that the whole dining experience is ruined, before you even get the bland food. The staff is down right rude. While the koobideh is excellent, everything else is bland and nearly inedible. They give you way too much rice, which may be how they justify the high prices. You don't want to take leftovers home, so the rice gets thrown away; terrible waste! On a recent visit, I noticed that the non-Muslim patrons at the next table got better service, even though it was a large party. Our table, no matter how polite we were to our server, got not even a smile, and we were made to feel as if serving us was an unwelcome chore.

Excellent food and excellent service. Be aware of the amount of food, one dish would be enough for two people. I would definitely recommend the place to friends, and would love to come back again.

Great food, but like many reviewers I must agree on the poor service. if their kabobs weren't as delicious I wouldn't go back..

Horrible service except if you are persian or white. Food used to be good 5 years ago but the quality and taste has greatly diminshed over the years.

We made reservation during ramadan and when we got there at iftar they told us they are too busy and could not serve us.....sorry Horrible... honestly I wonder how they are able to retain customers.

A nice place to eat. The koobideh skewers are big compared to other places I've been to. The Soltani is pricy, but good. The only complaint I've had about this place is that even if you are a party of 1 they automatically add themselves a tip of 15% to every check. I always tip very well and this irks the hell out of me, especially once they take your order it's hard to get their attention. Usually this short and a little fat lady will ask if every thing is ok (in a tone as if she could not care less)when we've almost finished but will be already walking away before we can answer

This place was pretty good. Service was good and had a cold appetizer salad platter. I exchanged the potato salad for the mustakhiar free of charge. Had tigh with bademjon appetizer which was ok. Had fish with riceand that was good. Serve unlimited bread. Prices were ok. The rice was a little bit oily for my taste. I would go back.

Good food and service. It's a bit pricey but the lunch specials are reasonably priced.

I love this restaurant! The food is amazing! their meat is so delicious and I always can't get enough! The service, i must say is not the greatest. But in my opinion the food makes up for it. Nice dining area and clean. I would love to go back. It's always my stop off on the way home from the beach!

My husband and I will not be returning back. When in town we always made a point to dine here, that will not be the case longer. Meat was dry and overcooked and rice was very dry and bland. Service is no where to be seen. I did see that persian patrons got more attention. The main lady and old man just stand around in the front talking and don't care about their customers. Pathetic service I tell you!

I visited LA this year and went to Hatam per my uncle recommendation. Me and my wife loved the food. We went back 3-4 times and tried multiple dishes. we loved them all.

They seem to be playing with the quality and quantity of the food lately. The koobideh tastes a little off. Definitely a bad move for an excellent restaurant. Try the beef soltani if you want great food and have 25 bucks to spare.

very tasty iranian food. very tasty persian food(included for persophiles). Yes the rice portion has been reduced but that's OK. They do charge a bit much for canned soda and they don't serve the canned soda chilled. However they happily provide a cup of ice so that the warm soda can be added and you can have semi-flat soda to drink. The wait staff usually look grumpy but the tasty food makes up for that. if you happen to speak spanish, drop it into your conversation with the busboy, his friends in the kitchen may enjoy that.

Great Zabihah Persian food and not too pricey either.

Great food, HUGE portions, and good service. The filet is amazing, and the stews are great too.

Pro's: Great food. Maybe the best Persian food I know of. Con's: Overpriced! Too much rice. The staff can be mean and lacks personality. Location could use an update.

I don't know if there has been a change in ownership, but I have noticed some changes. The quality of the food has gone down slightly. The meat was drier than usual and the rice portion has decreased. Before they used to give so much rice that you couldn't possibly finish it. Maybe because the rice prices have gone up, so they decreased the portion as well increased the prices. Also, they are automatically including tip on the bill, so you do not have the option of deciding how much tip to leave. So if you do not mind paying 15% for surly service, order for pickup only.

Extremely overpriced. Took a friend of mine out to lunch and the bill was over $50! Food is good though but not worth the price tag.

Food is good I've eaten here in the past, however, I've heard from a reputable source that the beef and lamb are halal but the chicken is circumspect and may not be halal. I would recommend double checking/verifying the source of meat.

aslamo'alaikum, maybe because we've frequented this place so often, we get better service. the food ranges from spectacular (on a good day) to above average. nonetheless, the food is usually very good. the portions are MASSIVE. a group of three can share a single plate and be satisfied, and by satisfied, i don't mean bursting at the seams. parking can be an issue at times. the restaurant is located in a strip mall with limited parking.

Best Irani food i have had in OC. Really generous serving. Service was fine. I ordered the beef and the chicken Kobedeih, highly recommended. A bit pricey over the weened but still worth going.

This is the spot, I have been loving their food for a number of years, I have yet to find anything to complain about when it comes to their food. I have been all around town and out of town and have yet to find a place which serves the same style meals with the same taste as Hatam. Hatam is on top of my list for the Top 3 spots in OC. I have had people from out of town come and eat at Hatam and they are still talking about it and this was about 2 years ago. I get good service, but then again I have a lot of respect at a number of restaurants in the OC. TheRealCritic has the real facts with the real knowledge about the restaurant game

salam... food was good though the kebabs were a little bit over cooked ( dry) ,, the rice and keema has an authentic taste, the service is average ,,, maybe because it wasn't a busy day for them cause i read lots of complains from previous reviews. i would recommend this restaurant to all my muslim brothers and sisters specially it has full halal menu.

The staff at this restaurant could definitely use an attitude adjustment. Despite arriving 45 minutes before closing time, the waiter started off by telling us to hurry up as they wanted to shut down the kitchen. The entire time we ate he continuously gave us condescending looks as he monitored to make sure that we were eating quickly. As soon as it was closing time, he came over to drop a few to-go boxes on our table, gave a little grin and walked off. One of my friends made the comment "should we get dessert?" out loud to get a reaction and sure enough the man shut half the lights off and then glared at us. As for the food, it was mediocre; I ordered adas polo with chicken. The lentils in the rice were hard, there was far too many raisins and the meat was dry. Needless to say, we did not leave a tip.

Persian food with good original taste. From outside, it is not attractive, but after you get inside, it has pretty decent setting and fair furniture. Menu has full Halal written statement. I think price is fair and $$ and in no way $. Massood

It was a nice place, good to go with your family. It would have been better if they served naan with the food and maybe some chutney with the kabobs and chicken - without it it was very dry.

Assalamu alaykum, This restaurant has very good persian food. Instead of cheap eats I would rate it moderate to expensive; however, the food is worth it. Try their pistachio ice cream, it is very good. The ambiance is not too of my liking.

Fodd is good. Service is not very friendly though. I have had better service at other Persian food places. They really need to work on this. I prefer Heidar Baba's in Pasadena and the female wait staff isn't allergic to hijab either! And you get plenty of smiles!

My husband and kids went to this place and got some take out for mein August . Food was superb in quality and quantity. One take out was enough for three of us.

I was treated by my aunt and uncle to this place since I wanted to try out Iranian cuisine, and boy I loved it! Everytime I visit my relatives in California, I NEED to eat at this place at least once! The last time I was there was in 2001, and till now, I can still remember how good the food was! I'm hooked on Iranian cuisine, and this restaurant is THE BEST that I've tried. I miss the fdood there!

The kabobs here are delicious! Also, we've never had such delicious white rice before. I was craving it for days after. I think the service was slow because the restaurant was really busy on Saturday night. This restaurant occasionally caters to the masjid I attend as well, and the food is always a hit with the folks.

I've been eating here for years now. I remember Mr. Hussain Rajab way back when I was a kid, when he himself was serving food at the masjid. I try to go as much as I can. Today I just went and the food was great like always. I had the Sultani and it was great. The meat is fresh, tender meat that tastes great. The rice is really good too. I would recommend this restaurant to all, because it is the only TRUE restaurant that serves great halal food. I have eaten before at other restaurants but most of them say they are halal but serve alcohol or have deceiving owners. Hatam doesn't. They should have more restaurants like this. I will go there again, Inshallah.

This is a great place to eat. I can't believe all these reviews saying the service is poor! Me and my friends (5 of us) have been going there about once every 2 months for the last 5 years. The service has been EXCELLENT every time except once when they were very crowded. The food is VERY GOOD, my favorite being the lentil rice and beef kabob.

Good food, but service lousy. If they do better service may a better place to go more often. Remember this is not Iran, you are in America.

One of their cooks made a mistake and went to local super market and bought non-halal meat because the manager was not around and he did not know what to do! somebody saw him brining in non-halal meet to store and there was big deal going on at the mosque. The cook got suspended and the poor manager got in trouble for not being there. Anyways, the service is casual but the food is good and give good portion. The dont serve alcohol and play only soft music. No belly dance or anything shameful like this. The owner is a Haji and I know him personally and is a great person. I recommand you all to go there. The one in Anaheim and another one in mission viejo. anyways, bye

I have been eating at Hata for a while now, as they are very close to where my in-laws live and half a block from a Masjid. The food is great every time I go there. Service is a bit slow though, especially when the restaurant is crowded. There seems to be only 2/3 servers.

We tried this place last summer when we were in L.A., it was really good. The food was great and good portions. We love Persian food and this Persian food was excellent. Good service and friendly too.

This is by far one of the best persian Halal restaurants in southern California. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and there is no alcohol in the Restaurant. Both the owner and manager are very nice, I have been eating at Hatam's from the past 10 years, every dish is always Halal, their catering is exceptional, and the cuisine is always delicious.

This a nice basic Persian restaurant with mediocre decor but quite tasty menu. In addition, there is no alcohol on the premises. The restaurant often caters local Muslim community events, including masjid fund raisers, etc. Everything on the menu is standard Persian fare, from Persian soup, must okheiar, Koobideh, adas polo, gheimeh, and the like. The Lubia Polo is particularly tasty, rice with diced beef and green beans in a perfect tomato sauce. They also serve their beef and chicken kebabs in sandwich form, with a Shirazi salad on the side.
