We ordered the whole baby chicken with saffron rice and minced lamb skewers with Persian bread. We would highly recommend the lamb as it was flavourful and moist. The chicken was nothing out of the ordinary. Seating can be tight.

A 3.75 closer to a 4, the lamb kebab tasted processed a bit rubbery, the chicken kebab tasted ok, the nan bread was great freshly made great yoghurt drink - service was good - friendly enough but I've had better Iranian food - try Shiraz in Birmingham. The decor and ambience was minimal and bustling which was good

Cramped and busy but aren't all of the best places? When I first came to this restaurant and sat on a long wooden bench, I was not quite sure about this restaurant and then the food showed up. Heaping portions of rice and delicious kabobs with tons of tasty vegetables on the side. I also tried a salt yogurt drink that perfectly complemented the food. Need another reason to try Patogh? You will be stuffed for under 10 quid.

Excellent food, super size nan, only downside is small space and very busy, but food is worth the wait, recommend if you like persian style food

I'm not entirely sure about Patogh. Maybe it was the hype reviews I read beforehand, maybe it was the fact that each time I tried to get in it was too full that built up my expectation. We ordered the mixed starters with one of the huge breads, and then some of the standard mains. It was quite tasty but nothing amazing. I guess this place works on the atmosphere which for me was just cramped and cold (downstairs). I will say that the price was excellent. We aint very well for just £13 per person which on (or off) Edgeware Road is excellent value.

This is the standard order to request: Naan (huge!) with hummus and pickles as a starter followed by mixed koobideh with saffron rice. Amazing and never failed each time! Downside: small, cramped, drinks served in plastic cups, impossible to find seating around iftari. But if you overlook these then you have a great evening out.

Excellent Persian food, been there numerous times with colleagues. A bit pricey and cramped but the atmosphere is almost Arabian Nights!

I work nearby and have been several times with colleagues. The food really is great,would definitely recommend it. As others have said, it can be a bit cramped, but I personally think it adds to the atmosphere!

This place is trully as good as everyone says - I ate there on the 16th of Nove2004 and it's just as people have said. The only negative being the lack of table space. The waiters insist on putting 3 people to a table for 2 only. I'm sure this is against health and safety. But all in all the place is really good value for money. It's a real shame that lack of space makes this a non ideal place to take out a big family. They would certainly benefit from expanding, possibly putting some tables outside or even expanding to next door!

Recommended by a friend, been there many times since. Very impressed with the kabab and value for money. Took parents but they werent too impressed as it was abit oily but what do parents know!

Although there are many Iranian restaurants in London, Patogh, tucked away in Crawford Place, just off Edgeware Road, is pretty unique. The premises are...cosy, with very interesting decor (I once read that it is supposed to have the feel of a bird's nest inside). Upstairs is definitely more atmospheric, with its wooden benches and tables. But it's the food that will draw the crowds [and it is ALWAYS crowded. Great stuff for a place that doesn't sell alcohol]. The food is amazing. A range of the usual starters...variations on hummus and different kinds of yoghurt (with cucumber? garlic? radish?). The special bread served in this place is unmissable. Nan cooked in a clay oven and peeled off the sides. Light and crispy, and the perfect way to warm up a grey London evening. But it's the meat that is truly out of this world. Koobideh Kebabs (read: lamb) and chicken koobideh kebabs. Succulent. Tender. Buttery. Finger-licking good (but who would be that impolite?) - all served with a choice of salad (a veritable garden on your plate), or rice, or the aforementioned amazing bread. They don't take credit cards - but don't let that put you off. This is one of the few places in London that can still work out to be a fiver a head - unbeatable value.

Iranian Kebabs (koobideh, baby chicken etc.), with either super-size naan or saffron rice. Excellent value for money (£5-6 for kebab, with rice and loads of salad included). Upstairs seating less congested (can get crowded). No alcohol served. (Make sure the baby chicken is fully cooked through).
