Pros: The food is outstanding. Service is really fast. I think this is the best designed food I have had in North America- including NYC. Cons: They had run out of some food items towards the end of the day.
A very nice place and quantity the give can feed 2 people. Price may seem higher for items but quantity is huge. Very nice decor reminds you of Pakistani culture with rickshaw parked in the parking lot and charpaai's set outside. I would go back to this place next time in town.
Owner is very rude. When we were brought to our table by the hostess, we had a stroller with us because my daughter had fallen asleep after a very long day in the stroller. In a very rude way, we were told by the owner, Gulshan, that we were not allowed to bring strollers into the restaurant because it gets in the way and the restaurant is very high traffic. Apparently, there is a sign in the front of the store that we did not see. However, our daughter had just fallen asleep and we did not want to wake her either. We also did not want to be difficult customers and presented an option to move the stroller to the side where there was no traffic but the owner angrily said no we cannot do that. The restaurant also has an outside area under a tent. In the outside area, there was a table far away from the customers with two chairs. It was a perfect area for me and my wife to sit with the stroller because it was completely out of everybody\'s way. So we told the hostess that my wife and I were going to grab the food from our family\'s table and sit at the table outside and eat. Gulshan again in a rude way said NO we\'re not allowed to eat at that table and if we do eat there, she will not serve us. After asking why, she gave no explanation and walked away. So she has provided us with NO alternatives with our stroller dilemma. Anyways, after being so rudely spoken to we still ate because we were extremely hungry. The food comes to our family\'s table, and because we had NO other place to eat we grabbed the food and ate at the table. The hostess tells the owner that we\'re eating there and she comes with a waiter and SNATCHES our table away while we\'re eating and asks the waiter to stack the table far away from us. So my wife and I finished our meal with no table!
We had a really great food experience at this restaurant. While it was crazy busy, the staff was nice. I guess we may have been fortunate, because the food was PHENOMENAL! We ate the chicken biryani and their must have beef ribs. We haven't had such amazing Indo/Pak food in years! Just remember to be patient when you go.
Had a very bad experience at this place. The food is not fresh, oily over price food. The place itself is a mess. The staff is not that helpful.
Had one of the worst experiences ever here with my family. The only reason we went was because for one they are the largest restaurant on the street and were the most crowded (so naturally you would think it is a great place to eat but boy were we wrong). There is absolutely zero service in this place - you basically walk in and they they sit you down wherever they find space. They have multiple waiters walking around but no one seems to have a clue what they are doing. Once you are seated you have these plastic menu cards which you can write down your order -- only to find out that you have to go up to the counter yourself to place your order. They give you a # that you place at your table and then you wait, wait, wait. We gave an order for 8 Nans - instead they keep bringing out Nans after Nans after Nans. They do not serve you the dishes together -- things trickle out of their kitchen randomly, for example if you order Samosa, Entree, 4 Naans, Paapri Chaat they would bring out 1 Naan first, Entree 2nd and maybe 10 minutes later a Samosa and another Naan -- really awful lousy service. And the Entrees were over priced and basically 95% rice and 5 % scraps of meat. We were so disappointed --- do yourself & your family a favor and skip over this establishment. I am a firm believer in supporting one's community but not at the cost of horrible service and lousy overpriced food.
This place is a hot mess. Some days a hit and some days a miss. Recently we ordered the chicken tikka boneless biryani only to find 3 pieces of chicken in the whole thing. I argued with the server and told him that he would need to take it back because there was no way I was going to pay $12.75 for a plate of yellow rice, some diced veggies and 3 measly pieces of chicken. Before leaving the server did mention that they were doing more of this - downsizing on portions - if that is the case - downsize your prices.
Their biryani is on the oily side but I liked their tarka daal and their chicken karahi was very salty but still pretty good. Their Aloo Gobi was not good at all.
Never liked anything here except the brain masala which was really good, used to go there all the way from mississauga for it! however, now they don't have the goat brain anymore and cow brain that they serve now is really smelly..not going there anymore... Really not worth the money considering the quality n quantity of food.
What a waste of money. service was great, place is relatively clean, but the food was plain awful. There is no way we would come back. Save your money, they are more for the commercial crowd then the desi crowd.
This is quite a well established restaurant, been around for quite a while and expanded through the years, with the passing of time the quality of their food has also deteriorated, they used to be very good but now average or below average however the prices have increased. Not the cleanest!
This is my all time favourite. I have been coming here since 12 years, great food and taste ever. It has expanded tremendously what it used to be 12 years ago. Tonight we had tikka, biryani, karhai, kabab and naan. Everything was fresh and yummy in taste. Pakistani flag and rickshaw at the front door.
I really liked the food. Fast service, Good service. Price was also good. We went during the summer, it was decorated as if you are in Pakistan.
Two thumbs up! would definitely recommend it. I had a great time with the family when we visited Canada this past September. Food was good but most of all, the decor brought back memories of sitting in a local restaurant somewhere in Pakistan with tent, rickshaws, charpais and great traditional food. Not sure what some of the review here are talking about...it's totally worth it if you're visiting Canada.

I will totally agree with some of the other comments. The place is definetely hyped up alot and the quality of food is just isn't anywhere close to its hype. 2 out of 3 of the last time I had food there I fell sick after. The only reason I kept going and would perhaps unfortunately continue to go is because of the toursity atmosphere for visitors visiting from out of town. Other than that I have no reason to recommend this place to anyone.
By far, the restaurant is hyped. The food quality is worse then a hawker on any street and I would question the hygene of the place. I took my friends who were visiting Toronto to this restaurant and all of us fell sick after having food at Lahore Tikka House. I am a very good food lover and have travelled many cities around the world and I have never had food this bad. I think the chef does not know how to cook.... I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone... Disappointed!
Great place to go! The atmosphere is very unique to greater Toronto. The food is pretty good, I would recommend to stick with the BBQ items. The environment reminds me of a few places I went to in Pakistan!
Definitely over-hyped and over-priced! I've heard many say its the best desi restaurant in Toronto I would say I strongly disagree! It once was the Best restaurant but it has completely been downgraded in my eyes in the recent years. The decor is horrendous....the new multi-storey building hasn't been completed in like 10 years now! Sitting in those portables it seriously feels like ure sitting at a cheap side-street reastaurant back home! Not very clean either. Those plastic chairs are so weak and placed on the most uneven ground it feels like it'll buckle from under you. Food quality and portion sizes have definitely dimished over the years. I had a friend recently who found an egg shell in his food! Disgusting!
Long wait on Friday nights. Chicken tikka masala and seekh kababs are the best thing here. Everything else is just ok. I remember this place as the bomb back in the day. Now it's a 2nd or 3rd choice establishment on Gerrard. I still hit it up whenever I'm in town.
I still think Lahore tikka house is THE place to go to eat with family or to treat some guests, the atmosphere is great as you feel like you're in a restaurant back home. The food on the other hand is very inconsistent as it could be good one time and bad the next. Try their famous kulfi for dessert.
Lahore Tikka House was THE place to eat on Gerrard. Not anymore. The place that once had so much promise is a victim of its own success. They seem to have given up on the long overdue renovations completely. Like a place in Pakistan, you get a messy and disorganized atmosphere, but with almost none of the charm! Sure, the food can still taste pretty good. The sizzlers and some dishes like tikka masala are tasty. But is it worth the upset stomach the next day? I'm convinced we're feeling sick because of the rush in food preparations and hygiene issues.

I don't know why this place has so many bad reviews, have been going there for few years now, sure the food is not as good as it used to be and costs more, but the service has allways been great, allway polite and respectfull-- reagardless of small or big party.... and take out doesn't take that long...i think there has been change in ownership, if you look at their menu you'll see the small "new" next the name. also its under construction because of the petition all the other resturants on gerarrad street did against them for drawing all the customers.
Only reason to go is for the khulfi.....This place used to be much better....food seemed old...too oily. The waitstaff was great as usual...not too sure what exactly is going on with the building itself..I felt as if I was walking thru a bunch of huts connected together and through the kitchen...the outside eating area if very colorful. Food is pricey. I would back for the khulfi only...
Wow, this place is really something. Any time I go to T.O. I make sure to stop here, it is that good. I have never tasted Pakistani food like that and my mom is a 5 star chef herself so that's a testament to this restaurant.
Food was excellent, staffs were friendly. I will defiantly return. Prices were great.I have only one complain, for the price they should serve in dish, not a paper plates.

Well known Pakistani restaurant on Gerrard street. They have been undergoing renovations for the past few years. The restrooms are very clean. Food is traditional punjabi fare. They also serve sugar cane juice and kulfis. Service is fast and friendly. The Restaurant is lively and has a festive atmosphere (especially on the weekends).
Really fun place, the delicious food was delivered quite quickly and the atmosphere was just like a shaadi hall in Pakistan.
The food used to be outstanding. The kabobs were always the best in the city. However, the last few time I have been there I found the kabobs greasy and overcooked. As the place has increased in size, the food has gone down in quality.
A disorganized spicy experience. The establishment was (I believe) under construction... or maybe they were looking for an authentic village look. The food was decent, though a bit on the greasy & spicy side. The Chicken Bhiriani was extremely disappointing. The naans were really tasty and the chicken kebabs were decent. Chicken Karhai was also tasty. The service was poor... Took me a while before I figured out how the ordering system worked. Will I visit the establishment again?... Maybe, but only if I've run out of other options.
This guy is simply very lucky I think his stars are moving in right direction i.e. on peoples pockets and he is minting money becoz he is giving out just NOTHING. This place is one of those that even if my father in law insists that he will have the wedding dinner here, I would rather stay out and take my wife from Gerrard and wont enter lest I would go and eat even if someone else is paying. I think that says it all about the quality and quantity of this place. My previous to last visit in 2001 was a very pleasent one when they had a rickshaw there and a sweet punjabi lady used to bake naans in front of you. I am definitely sure the owners have changed and this place is not worth of visiting, complete waste of money and time
I am 100% agree with Multani, Lahore Tikka House don't desrve any star at all,the food quality degrading as the number of customers increasing over period of time, I don't understand why people go there, Tandoori items well burnt and prices are sky rocketing, they simply couldn't afford to keep the same quality as they used to have back five years ago
This establishment gets 1 star because 0 star is not an option. I flew from California on a business trip looking forward to eating dinner here - boy, was I disappointed. I ordered chicken tikka and beef kabab initially. Tikka was mostly burnt and beef kabab smelt bad and left much to the imagination about their choice of meat. So, I ordered boti tikka and refrained from beef kabab after the first couple of bites. Beef kabab was burnt - the few pieces I decided to try were the "reject" pieces of meat. The pieces were a poor cut of meat and quite chewy. Then I ordered their "lahori kulfi" because they were advertising it quite aggressively on the shirts of all their employees. It was frozen solid like a rock with an inch of ice at the top. Taste was okay but not that enjoyable. Their best item was the naan - I ate that to counter-balance the "stomach-lining-removing" spices. Oh, I also drank two cans of soda to help digest the food. Now this complaint is very personal so I wouldn't ding them over this. They do not serve tea. That is blasphemy! I will not be returning.

Superb food. We were so hungry after driving from Chicago, when we found this place. Among the other restaurants in this area, we found this one to be the best. The environment was so friendly, with village atmosphere, we felt right at home. Definitely highly recommended!
Good food, alright place only reason it's not that high is because toronto has so many more halal restaurants to eat at. The food is spicy and its a bit pricey for the portion size that they give you. Not bad to try once.

I have eaten at Lahore Tikka House every year when Ivisit Canada. Yes it is expensive as compared to New York prices, but they give a lot in one serving. The food was great although the service is slow. I have not eaten at any other restaurants in the area so I cannot speak for them but the food here is tasty.
Been to this place twice. No doubt food is good but the problem is that their portions are quite small for the price. Not worth the money.
Masha Allah, very very good food. Friday nights are good for couples wanting less male crowds, and as well for families because each time I've went after 9pm it's been great for us. Coming from a Canadian Pakistani girl who grew up on Lasagna and tacos the food is great. Must try the following regardless of your taste: Kabobs (beef) Tandoori Chicken (Whole or boneless cubes) Karhai Chicken (Tomato base) Chicken Biryani ***** Uncomparable! Naans - Puffy Bread

As a typical caucasion Candian, I can only say that this food is AWESOME...well, at least the items that I always order. I recommend kebabs, daal and the naan (the only things I ever get and am never disappointed). The price is GREAT actually and the service is always FAST and FRIENDLY. The premises isn't great, but it's typical Pakistani when I compare to what I say in Karachi and Lahore.
The food is good, though not at par with the traditional Pakistani taste. Service is courteous and efficient. PLace has a Pakist6ani feel to it also. Quite expensive.

By far the best lamb biryani in Toronto we have found. The service is always friendly and the staff courteous. A super fun place to eat during the summer...and the mango shakes are excellent anytime. My wife and I always drive down to Lahore from Scarborough whenever we have a unquenchable hankering for really good biryani ... they never disappoint. The quality has been consistent through a dozen visits over two years' time. Highly recommended! However for haleem we love the Silver Spoon in Scarborough (Sheppard west of Markham) - mmmm food for the gods :o)

Well my first visit I ordered chicken biriyani, the chicken smelt bad like it was rotten.
The food has improved significantly recently. Previously, I could never understand why people went over there but its much better now. The service is as lousy as ever though.

I've tried this place every year with an expectation of them improving their food, presentation, price etc..However, to my utmost dissapointment, this place did not change in the last three years and is not worth a penny. I have no idea why this place is packed. Avoid it at all cost. If you are looking for good and I mean quality food Try "Chopan Kabab House" at Danforth and GreenWood Jazakul Khair
I have been to many such restaurants in many parts of the world and have found Lahore Tikka House as one of the best for value, service,hospitality and traditional Halal food. I just wish we had such an establishment in the United Kingdom. Keep it up and may Allah always be with you.
The food is quite scrumptous, though liberal use of oil reminds me of daegi food cooked at weddings, back home. The ambience is a typical desi one, so if you're into it, you'll love it! They definitely need to put more focus on ameliorating the hygienic levels of the facility. Having said that, I would surely recommend it. How often do your taste buds get to savor such palatable items as lamb tikka, haleem, chicken karahi etc, in a form that gets as close to the cuisine back home, as can be?

This place is always crowded and looks like a mini mela is in progress. Their kabaabs are great and service is efficient. However, the drawbacks are that there is no sense of hygiene, no ambience and you might be billed extra if you are not careful.
Remain away from this place if you dont want an upset stomach next morning. Very filthy if you look closer, the waiter served us had not his nails clipped since months.
Best Pakistani Lahore style food at that location. Free Parking, all food u like, Pan, Lasce, Gane Ka Rass (sugar kan juse) Mix plat is great. I been there more than 10 times. I allwas feel great.

Salam alaikum! This restaurant offers great food, great service and excellent value. It is difficult to believe that the reviews I read are for the same restaurant. My wife and I eat here regularly - about once a week. We have tried many other restaurants on Gerrard and have found that this restaurant is constantly busy for good reason. The biryani, kebab, and tikka are all tasty. We have always found the staff to be extremely friendly, helpful and never have any problems with the billing. The food is served quickly and is really reasonably priced. Great value for your money.
This place is a complete joke. No sense of hygiene, service or food quality. It makes you wonder why/how these people are still in business. The place gives my home town of Lahore and its excellent dining establishments a bad name.
Quite a messy place. Poor service. As for food - pathetic. Summer outdoor scenes pull in the crowd, otherwise one would never eat at this establishment.

Been to Gerrard many times was not impressed with the menu or customer service would not recommend it, I would rather go to Chandi Chowk. Plus he is Ismaili.
Good food, but watch what they bill you for. The dude tried to bill me extra, and argued endlessly - so watch what they are charging you, and that it is accurate.
