About Nando's

Nando's Flame-Grilled PERi-PERi Chicken tantalizes tastebuds all over Canada. But even as we grow, our aim is not to be another chain of restaurants. We want each Nando's restaurant to be individual reflecting the local characteristics of each area. Visit some of our restaurants and you will see that although they serve the same great chicken, each one has something unique. This includes many restaurants that serve halal chicken. We are known for our PERi-PERi chicken, which has a truly unique taste. Fresh, never frozen, A-grade chickens are butterfly-cut and immediately marinated in the top-secret Nando's marinade for a full 24 hours to ensure that the flavour penetrates right through the meat. The chicken is flame-grilled right in front of you and basted thoroughly in your choice of sauce: Lemon & Herb for the not so brave, Medium PERi-PERi for the slightly more adventurous and Hot or Extra Hot PERi-PERi for the real daredevils. Flame-grilling the chicken means that half the fat of the chicken literally disappears in the process, and the result - the finest tasting chicken in the world.

Long time favourite..the food portions have decreased over time. Food is fresh. Peri Peri Fries are a favourite but a hit n miss depending on location. Pricey but still worth the visit.

Food here is very tasty and clean like any other chains I guess. I like the food but I not the best value - for the money you pay you get small portions of food.

I am no scholar however, you may want to read the following article and decide for yourself if Maple Lodge is Halal or not. I think it is quite clear from this article that Maple Lodge is not Halal.

Regarding the halalness of the chicken. If you accept the ISNA certification given to Maple Lodge for machine cut chicken, then ok. Nandos Peri Peri sauce is the best.

Like all my reviews of other Nandos locations same goes for this - 5 stars! Flame Grilled chicken is one of the best. This particular location is very small and has very limited seating compared to others.

Brothers and sisters: If you wouldn't trust a Restauranteur who states that their meat is halal, why would you trust a Butcher? Are butchers supposed to be more trustworthy than Restauranteurs? Please remind of which ayah in the Quran this is stated, as I have forgotten. Nando's serves some of the best chicken I've ever had. Options in terms of increasing the heat factor are great! Their individual meals, i.e. chicken breast sandwich are also great. The only complaint with Nando's is the fairly high pricing. The food is prepared very quickly, and the service is also polite!

The meat they use is Maple Lodge. As everyone knows Maple Lodge does not compile with the Islamic requirements in regards to slaughtering Halal meat. Please do not disguise Maple Lodge as Halal meat. Khudahafiz, Aslaam-Alay-Kum

Went there once with family. Ordered three different chicken meal and they pretty much tasted the same. So not much options in terms of taste. Don't want to bad mouth the place and this could have been our bad luck but that particular day the chicken were over grilled and not juicy. People who are into spices will not be dissapointed here since they have for grades for spices and can even make any south Asian shed a few tears. It's resturant type prices with fast food type+ services. Not sure if I'd go back.

Just had dinner there the other night, and verified the Halal certificate, as all other Nandos they get their chicken from Maple Lodge Farms, I did ask regarding the tape recorder rumours and they assured that there is NO tape recording, and that THERE IS someone praying over the slaughter of the chicken. I did speak to the owner himself and he was extremely nice in answering all questions, and is also MUSLIM himself. I felt bad about people in the community starting rumours and discouraging people from supporting a fellow Muslim brother and spreading rumours against there business. The food was Great and I would eat there anytime and recommend to all muslims

Food may have been reasonable but service was incredibly bad. Not only was it slow but everyone was rude. Femaile manager came out after we complained and said that they are a busy restaurant and that is how it is! Great! Do not intend to eat here again. Not worth the price. We have plenty of other places to choose from here!

This place busy and really good peri-peri chicken. I went during month of Ramadhan to break fast there, they had dates at the order desk, to break the fast. On the comment about Maple Lodge chicken , they are the biggest halal chicken supplier, they supply to most the halal butchers and resturants, why ? because they are cheapest and distribute in wholes. For me tape dua is as good a person reciting as long as it is cut islamic way.

I tried the chicken with mild sauce which was OK. Maybe, I will try the hot sauce next time. The perri chips (fries) and spicy rice were average.

I absolutely love Nanodos chicken. Perri Perri sauces, a must try! Perri chips are just regular chips, not difference, and so are the spicy rice. I dont know why they call them spicy).

I have a tough time trusting any "halal" restaurant that serves alcohol, but that's just me.

Nando's would be fantastic IF IT WAS HALAL. Maplelodge is NOT halal. I repeat...NOT Zabihah Halal. Anyone who debates this has not done the research to see where/how the chicken is slaughtered. Very disappointed to see Muslims who fool themselves in thinking a place is Halal when there is probable doubt. But then again, that's up to you and Allah....

There's no reason to be so uptight. If the restaurant says that the food is halal, we should have enough trust in them to believe what they are saying. If we do not trust these restuarants than what gives us the right to instill our trust in other south asian/arabic restaurants. Is it just because the owner is S. Asian or arab himself?! hypocrites

Great ambience, complete nando's standard food (i've had nando's in Dubai too). There IS no halal certificate though, and onsidering that all the staff is white Canadian, one might feel a little unsure taking their word! But assuming it IS halal, it's a great overall excperience.

I Have eaten here a couple of times the food was delicious i loved it. But then I checked if Maple lodge (Where they get there meat from ) was halaal what they did was that they recorded the prayer and slaughtered the animal. An Imaam said it was ok but I dont think your suppose to do that.

"My brother spoke with the owner who states that all of the chicken is halaal. I've gone to Nando's for years, the peri peri is deliciously addictive. An excellent halaal restaurant to bring the whole family to."

THIS RESTAURANT DOES NOT USE HALAL MEAT. We saw that even the "halal" certificate they use is not authentic, and it is not put in a noticeable place.
