A halal sign is clearly visible on the premises of this restaurant. All food at this restaurant is certified halal.
For 25 years, Cedarland has been serving Dearborn and the metropolitan Detroit area with the best halal food available. Children are always welcome at our establishments. Our restaurant is famous for having the only Middle eastern cuisine drive-thru in the city. It is number one for convenience. Call ahead and your order will be waiting for you, no need to leave your car - a God send for those days you have a full schedule and car load of children.

We visited this place last week and the first impression of this restaurant was just an ok type restaurant. We went in and hovered the menu real quick. Nothing different from other middle eastern restaurants. But then we ordered something which appeared very delicious in their menu card pictures. That was it! It was their rotisserie chicken with pota bread and garlic sauce. That made the day. Also their shawarmas were real juicy! All in all it was a visit worthy. Will definitely return!
Great food great service and good price
Went here recently during ISNA weekend with a party of 12. The place was very busy but they still gave us good service. We had the cedar mixed plate which comes with lamb chops, beef kebabs, chicken wings, hummus, baba ganoush, fatoosh salad and tabouli. We also had order of Lemon Chicken and additional Chicken Wings and Marinated Chicken Breast. Also ordered the Lentil soup for appetizer and the Mixed Fruit drink. Everything was very good. My favorites were the chicken wings and the marinated chicken breast pieces. The fruit smoothie was very good as well (they put honey into it). They have booth and table seating inside. Fast and Friendly service. Highly Recommended.
A friend recommended me this place, I ordered three sandwiches, one shawarma, one shawarma mix and one chicken cream chops in addition to hummus. They were ok. but I liked the lentil soup.
Overall good place to eat. My dish was a little oily, but the hummus and salad were delicious! My husband's meal was fine. Huge portions and waitress was very nice.
I really love their baba ghanooj
We went there Saturday night. We bought the big platter which came with a lot of things. The soup, hummus and salad were great though I was a bit disappointed that they didn't serve fresh bread. Then came the meat platter which we all thought wasn't too good. I have definitely tasted much better Arabic style meat dishes. Overall ambience was also not that great.
Not bad for the price
Delicious food, possibly the best value for money I've had. Could not believe how low the check was. We had their pepper steak and a couple of combos. Everything was really good but special mention for their shawarma (both beef and chicken), chicken tikka, seekh kabob and freshly baked bread.
Very good food. Clean restaurant. My only issue is this is a Muslim place as evidenced by the menu and there is pop music playing on the stereo. Also, they cut their salad greens with a knife which causes them to brown prematurely appearing old. If they simply tear the greens by hand they would find it won't brown as rapidly and the food will be more appetizing. The portions are a good size too so excellent value.
Had their lamb platter which was pretty good. However, some of the items did not seem fresh, like salad and grape leaves. This was my first time here, but will give it another try.
All time favorite ... I'been going there for over 10 years ... best value for your money ... the best Labanese food in MoTown!
We were told this place was good. But not impressed. Meat dishes felt dirty to eat. Prices were okay. Service was not that great
This place is garbage. I've gotten sick from their food. I also have witnesses they way they prepare the food. The cooks don't wash their hands when coming out from the restroom, they go straight to the kitchen and prepare your food, Many rates are in the restaurant. I've seen cooks pick up food from the ground and serve it to costumers, how dirty is that? One of my friends got kidney stones from consuming their salads. By the way, some of their meat is not hala. They get it from restaurant Depot on Miller road.
The worst place in the state of Michigan! We went there and stood like stooges and then chose a table ourselves. After the waitress took our order, all of them started to quarrel loud enough to decide who is responsible for which table. Then one family was leaving and one of the customer slipped and fell. Not to my surprise none of the staff bothered coming up to her. Also the food was 2/5 cause I didn't expect my whole steak to be in small pieces. Never going back.
Fast food convience with excellent taste. They also have excellent grape leaves. Nice place to take your family.
I have been coming to Cedarland Restaurant for 20 years. I have read many comments and am surprised when they say Cedarland is not very clean....I have been there during a dinner rush when 150 plus people and children are enjoying their meals as if they were in a park. Welcomed children tearing up their establishment. Crawling on booths, smearing windows etc. But the owners deal with it and clean up afterwards. The restaurant has to go through strick Health department scrutiny to be opened. I enjoy Cedarland and the fact that we can take our 5 children their and enjoy a day out. We have had wonderful meals there at prices we can afford. And the owners do everything to see that we have been taken care of, down to free soup, free appetizers, free garlic sauce. This is truly a family restaurant.
Place is not very clean. Otherwise food is Okay. Couple of entrees I've tried are average taste. Lentil soup is great, just like home made. A big drawback at this place is they don't serve fresh pita bread like Al-Ameer or Lashish.
This is a family favorite place. Usually you can get the cedar plate and that is enough variety to keep you going throughout your meal. For some reason the meat tends to be under cooked and hard, so we usually swap out the beef chunks with chicken tawook, and simply ask them to cook the other meat products well. They give you free lentil soup which is vey yummy, and the best thing is their garlic sauce and their tahini sauce. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is planning on feeding a large group. They have plenty of space and the prices are very reasonable. Just the only downside to Cedarland is the condition of their kitchen. If you can ignore that aspect, you will love their food..
Excellent food. Service is ok. Servings are HUGE. 2 people can share one plate and still have leftovers. The prices are very reasonable. They give you free bread and soup with each order. Me and my mom ordered one plate of Ghallaba which came with fatoush and baba ghanouj. We were full and had leftovers to take back to the hotel. I always go here when I am visiting.
Very delighted to finally eating good arabic food, for a moderate price.Their free soup/homus/salad was too good, and the meat plater was out of this world. My Family enjoyed it a lot.Staff was nice.
Family atmosphere, good food, VERY GENEROUS portions, friendly staff and still inexpensive. This place has been around for many many years and I can always remember it being this good. We've had large family (20+) dinners here several times and never had a complaint. Btw, does anybody else think the owner (one of the brothers) looks like Saddam Hussein?
Ate there once, Shawarmas were excellent and the price was decent.
Family type resteraunt and one of the famous ones in Dearborn, MI. They usually serve complimentary lentil soup but no fresh bread. Arabic food served with many combo plates. I do prefer the arabic food but I usually stay away from the hamburgers and non arabic dishes.
Waiters and waitresses are friendlier than Al-Ameer. Decor ok. Food ok. nothing spectacular.
I would agree with some of the not so great reviews for cedarland. The quality of food has gone down since the first time I ate there 6 years ago. There are many resturants in the Warren vicinity that serve better food.
assalam o alaikum i have been eating in this restaurant since i have moved detroit. its absolutely amazing place to take your family and the food is amazingespecially thier soup(dal). the sandwiches, gslaba and sheesh comba is excellent. i would hight recommend this place to every muslim in michigan.
I ate here once and only once. What I got was not very tasty, and this is sad given that the area is so filled with Middle Eastern Restaurants. An unusual feature, though, is their drive-through where you can get things like brain sandwiches. Yummy! ;)
Cedarland is actually a landmark in Detroit. It's been around for sooo long. And the food they serve is excellent and quite inexpensive. Plus it's a great place to take your family and has two locations!
This is a nice family restaurant own by Muslims. Try their combos, food is excellent. I like their fatoosh and the side items including the platters. Authentic Halal
I have travelled hundreds of miles just to dine at this fabulous restaraunt. WOW! Every mile is worth it. Try the Kofta Kabab and Chicken Tawouk -- excellent!
You walk in, and it seems to be just another dive with tacky decor. It's not. I have traveled from Chicago JUST TO EAT HERE. If you close your eyes and just focus on the food, you may fool yourself into believing you are in Damascus or Beirut. It's that good.
Very nice and good.
Excellent food. Free apetizers (Lentil soup and pita bread). Try the mixed grill combo.
Try this place. Believe me when i say that you will not regret it.
Food is excellent and portions are a good size. The prices are also reasonable. The restaurant also has good hours (open till 1:00 am on Saturday night).
"I have been going to Cedar Land for almost 10 years. And i can honestly say, the quality and the quantity of the food remains the same. It is probably the best halal resteraunt you'll find around Michigan. All the food is delicious but i highly recommend the ghallaba, and cedar plate. EnjoY!"
Cedarland has excellent halal food and reasonable prices. The service leaves much to be desired, but again the food is really great! I highly recommend thier shish tawook.
This is my favorite restaurant in the Detroit area. The food is excellent and in abundance. Unless you are a very big eater, I suspect you will take home enough for another meal. Their individual combo plate is large enough for two people. They even have a drive through take out window and have just open a new bakery the the building which used to house the restaurant. This is a winner for sure.
Middle Eastern Restaurant that serves delicious food. Note: Ask if the chicken is zabihah.
Praise be to God. The owners of Cedarland would be glad to tell you where their meats and poultry are purchased. Eat with comfort as the owner is a Haj. Thank Allah for He is all knowing.
