The food here is just average, the service is not so great, but it's almost expected so it's kinda funny. We don't take those kinda things personally. We still come back only if we have a taste for Chinese, which is rare but i don't know if any other halal Chinese place in the area so it's bc of a lack of other options.
If I could give zero stars I would. This was bad, very bad! My husband and I went to this restaurant due to its decent rates through Google Search. However, it was not what it seemed. First, the restaurant\'s website stated that it opened at 4:30, so my husband and I came early and sat in the car to wait for it to open. When we went in at 4:30 a server gruffly told us that it opened at 5:00. My husband and I left and waited in the car. However, it should have been a warning to us to leave and find another place. But we decided to wait and give them a chance because there are no Chinese Halal restaurants in our area. Next when the restaurant finally opened we went in and ordered. We ordered Crispy Duck, Chicken in Orange, egg rolls, 3 meat chow mien, and green onion bread. The first thing that came to our table was the chow mien not our app. It was ok, but was cold is some places, the meat was weird, but was edible. After waiting 5 minutes our egg rolls came and so did the \"crispy\" duck. First off the \"crispy\" duck wasn\'t crispy at all, the skin was rubbery and the meat itself was rubbery, it felt old and over cooked. In addition, there was no seasoning and the taste was just bad. We could barely eat one bite. My husband set it on the other side of the table that is how bad it was. Next the chicken in orange came. It was just weird. The outside coating which should have been pillowy and crispy was chewy, absorbed with oil and sauce, didn\'t taste like chicken at all and it seemed like it had been microwaved. My husband and I didn\'t finish anything except for the egg rolls, which were good. They gave us the bread to go and my husband had a bit the next day and he said it was bland with not taste. We were charged over $60 dollars, plus tip. Which is what the server cared about because when my husband gave her $80 she asked if he wanted change. He told her no and we got the heck out of there. This dinner was part of a date night that my husband and I had planned for over 2 months. We live 1hr and 30minutes from San Jose and came into the city for the Shen Yun show. So this was the beginning of that date and it was bad. It was so bad that my husband questioned if it was halal or not. We will never come here again. It was too expensive for what you got. PE (the chinese fast food place) is better. Don\'t spend your money here.
The food is average, not as good as SoCal\'s halal Chinese restaurants. It is a low priced and service is good.

I'm writing this review for my mother. We went to this restaurant for her birthday and we all enjoyed the dinner. This particular restaurant has no pork or pork products of any kind. So for all of you who love pork don't come here expecting it, but do not be disappointed. This restaurant has great food. Some bad things about the restaurant are that the noodles were a little overdone and the buns tasted weird, but there were some people who may disagree with me. Yet those are my only complaints. This restaurant had really good food overall. I especially liked the peking duck, we all agreed on was very delicious. The duck had no gamey taste to it which I happen to like. Granted we didn't have too much traditional Chinese food, but the little that we did have was excellent. This place also throws you off because it is a Muslim Chinese restaurant. This means that all the food is halal. I also loved the atmosphere of the restaurant because all the waiters/ waitresses sang happy birthday to my mom which I think is very nice. Overall this restaurant is great and I highly reccomend it.
Theres better available in the bay area. Giving 2 because atleast they have islamic art in display. :)
The food is as good as the service is bad. If you have a big party either get there early or be prepared to wait.
One of my friend took me there while I was in town, food was so s0. Workers were not friendly. As soon as we sit down on the table waiter asking us to order the food instead of given water first or saying hello. If I need to go back, I will do that beacuse of Zabihah food. FYI: I drove there from San Francisco downtown.

All this place is awesome .All Halal chinese food.Very busy cause the food is awesome.Very tasty soups and pefectly cooked food with excellent service.I love it and went there multiple times while out there.A MUST TO GO IF YOU ARE IN TOWN

Best halal Chinese Restaurant in Bay Area.
This is the best halal Chinese food I have had. However, the waitresses are very rude. I would recommend this place just because the food is so good, but be prepared to deal with rude servers. As far as the alcohol, I did not see any on the menu and I did not see anybody drinking it. But there is a page on the menu which is only Chinese, I don't know if that is alcohol or not.
Been going here for years and I enjoy it everytime. My last visit last week was no different. Food is typically good here. Some of my favorite dishes are: chicken with chili sauce, chicken corn soup, green onion pancake, kung pao beef or chicken and the sweet and sour chicken. The mixed chow mein is also tasty here. Service is not the best, but has gotten better over the years.
Very good food. A lot of stuff on the menu is good. If you plan to get chow mein, make sure you try the Three Flavor Home Made Chow Mein -- thick noodles w/ eggs, chicken, and beef. From the dim sum menu, the green onion pancakes (Darda's paratha), and the potstickers are pretty awesome. Sure, not all servers are super friendly, but who cares? Get over it; it's a Chinese restaurant. But if you're friendly with them, they're pretty friendly in return, more often than not.
i have question for all these people who are saying they don't sell halal meat. I know most of the restaurant owners over here in bay area and most of them buy there meat from restaurant depot what about that. desi restaurants especially. Now second thing after reading your comments i called them and they said they sell halal meat. I recall a hadith of Prophet Muhammad which states a person who believes on chit chats or gossip is a liar himself. Now should i believe a person who idon't know ( as per you are saying a friend of your friend told you ) or i called Darda and asked them myself about this. Be a Muslim and be good to yourself and other also. Please follow a path of truth. May Allah guide us all.
We went there twice and really love the food! The food was really great! But am sad to hear that the chicken is non halal? What about the meat then? Can someone really verify that and let us know? JZ! It is really a bummer if indeed the meat is not halal. :(
I used to go there almost on a monthly basis, because they serve excellent food. But I recently find out that their chicken is not Halal. In fact they buy Halal and non-Halal chicken (due to cost reason may be) and mix them together. If a restaurant is having the pictures of Kaaba, and Quranic Aayat, does not make it Halal food business. Please verify yourself before eating again.
How can anyone give less than 5 this place? Amazing Chinese food, especially their spicey chicken.
If you ever had Great Chinese food, you will find Darda to be an average or less for its food. Out of all the things i have tried their, i found some dishes to be good and not so good (oily, bad taste). so, now my order is limited to only soups, fried rice and sweet&Sour chicken.

I want to update my initial review on Darda Seafood based on my recent experience over there. The service at Darda has shown improvement over the last few months. Their food was always good but their service left a lot to be desired. With recent improvement in their service (food delivered fast by friendly servers) and good food, it could again be one of my "usuals". My previous review: Extremely poor service and the staff is very very rude. Food is ok but not that great that you tolerate the staff's rude behavior to eat it. People eat out to enjoy not to feel bad.
Alcohol is a Problem!
Food is great, although the portions are not that big....Service can be really slow and bad when it gets busy......This place is usually packed as it is in a prime location ..........I don't like the fact that they classify themselves as a Zabihah place yet still serve alcohol.
Can someone please verify if it is true that he doesnot use halal meat all across the board. I see lot of Muslims come to this restaurant and it will be a great favor to Muslim community to find out. The owner is Muslim and I hope he understands the complexity of the issue. May Allah help us all.
I used to frequent Darda's until someone who owned another halal restaraunt told us the manager of Darda's only orders a small quantity of halal meat and the rest is non-zabihah. Allahu alim but we stopped eating there to be on the safe side. Has anyone ever asked to see a halal certificate or anything?
Great chinese food. Service is ok. Yeah they don't smile but who cares. I'd rather have good food with no smile than bad food with lots of smiles. Mongolian is great and so is lamb in sa cha sauce. If you like seafood, try whole braised fish!
The food is pretty good and we take out now and then. The customer service is horrible though. We have only gone inside to eat a few times. The last time we were there a waitress decided to step over the back of my chair and my baby daughter's high chair to get through a space that would have been impossible to get through through any means and she ended up kicking my daughter in the head. She never even apologized or anythign but kept gogin like nothing ever happened. Also my husband went to take one of my sons to the bathroom and as soon as they left the table a waiter rushed up and took the high chair away for someone else when we weren't even finished. We will never dine in again and if another hala chinese restuarant opens up we would probably try them instead just on grounds that the customer service is not a good experience.
Halal restaurant serving beer shouldn't considered to be halal. I won't be going back to the restaurant again.
Don't expect to get the waiters' attention. I do things myself by going to the front and picking up the essentials. And asking for water in the beginning. Food is what I go there for, naturally and i love the hot n sour soup, sweet&sour chicken, the sesame bread. Ofcourse the Chinese tea with lots of sugar! In the 2/18/2007 edition of the Mercury News they had a good review of Darda. They mentioned that it was halal. Unfortunately, in the last line it says, "You won't find beer on the menu, but there's Tsing Tao in a cooler in the corner. Just ask." Tsing Tao is a Chinese beer.
Best halal Chinese food in town. The service is terrible. Prefer take out option as the food is excellent.
They usually have pretty good food here, although the service is sometimes bad, especially when they get real busy. I usually get the hot & sour soup, sweet & sour chicken, the seasame bread and the shrimps with walnuts is very good too! The owner is a Chinese Muslim guy, so I trust them when they say it is Halal, although they sometimes serve Chinese beer to their non-Muslim customers.
When we went, it was very crowded. I could see pictures of mecca and islamic art everywhere. The food was ok but very greasy. The service was very quick but not customer oriented. The serving size was ample.
Very busy restaurant although I am not sure why! Staff were not too unfriendly. Had the mongolian beef and vegetarian spring rolls. Beef was not too bad altough I could not order noodles, I had to get rice - I was on my own and they don't do small portions. Same goes for the soup which was a shame becasue I wanted to try the chicken corn soup. The spring rolls were bland.
A very well trusted friend of mine, said that they do not serve halal food here..I would look into it..Although I've eaten here before, I will no longer go until I am convinced that they are halal.
Overall, good food for good prices. Recommend their mongolian beef and their soups are very good too. I have not had any service challenges here.
Good food,esp the noodles...and they have a good deal on pearl tea that you couldn't get at other chinese restaurants. I've been to other chinese restaurants but it's Darda that i like best.
Great chinese food! Parking is a challenge if you arrive mid-lunch and prepare for a long line out the door. Service is less than average but food quality is good. Suggest you get there about 11am when they open if you dont want to wait (or find parking)

No problem with the service; very friendly. Yes they serve alcohol, but the meat is halal. the seafood is their forte - truly excellent. I ate there three days in a row and got an msg reaction. I think they use msg and will ask if they can preapre my selection without msg next time. Parking is tough because it's located in a busy strip mall.

I went to Darda last week and was very annoyed with the food quality and service. Oil was flowing out of the dishes and staff was not friendly.
The service was very bad .The food was okay but if you eat in the restaurant check your bill carefuly because they charged us about 6 dollars more just to eat in the restaurant.
i think their food is excellent 9 out of 10 times. i've been there 20 times atleast. i read the reviews, and it's weird, i've been there all these times and never noticed the alcohol. what a shame. oh well. i will still go back even though the service is pathetic. they are very rude, but i've learned to pick the same waitress all the time and now she knows me and my family and treats us well. put it this way, it's better to go here than to, i.e. outback steakhouse where everyone looks at you crazy. enough said....

Darda is my favorite Chineses restaurant in the Bay Area. The food is great and prices reasonable. This place can get incredibly crowded at times and that speaks for its popularity.

Darda has a new restaurant in Fremont, with almost the same menu. They do not serve alcohol either. The staff are very polite and efficient, and the food is ever much as good as the Darda in Milpitas. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Somewhat fancy in appearance, this restaurant is designed to attract the Muslim and non-Muslim crowds. As you enter, one of the Mi'wathat is hung above the door. In addition to the restaurant name, you can see a large sign in Arabic (Al-Mat'am al-Islami: The Islamic Restaurant). Non-Muslims will likely be unaware of the symbolism, especially when they get the alcoholic drinks they order. The management was notified of the alcohol-serving paradox a couple of years ago to no avail. If you are looking for a Chinese food restaurant, there are worse places. But do not be misled. This is not an Islamic place.
This is not a Muslim restaurant they say it but they are just selling Muslim name. Why because they sell beer and I have seen it myself last Friday on the 9th of January 2004. I told the owner of the Restaurant and he had no words to say. I would request my Muslim brothers and sisters not to eat in this restaurant because how sure you can be about the meat they serve is Halal. They have a very nice and big picture of Kabah and people are drinking beer under this nice picture. How shameful Muslim people can be. And we advertise this restaurant on Muslim Web sites. Shame.
We went last night (12/29/03)with a party of 9 + 2 kids (but we only mentioned 9). Were told wait is 10 min, but it was actually 40 min. When we got the table, an unruly waiter scolded us for not mentioning 11 instead of 9. He was very loud and uncourteous about it, so I wanted to leave. One of my friends started arguing loudly with him and we ended up screaming at the waiter "SHUT UP!" and the whole restaurant heard us. We then left. It may be that the waiter just had poor english skills, but he was definitely rude. Would never go there again.
Conformed with meat supplier for Darda in person heard that he buys only Chicken and Beef from Halal source. No conformation on Lamb/goat.

Darda has some good food although it is deplorable that the owner chooses to serve wine. What else can I say about one who doesn't stand for his principles ?

One of the best restaurants that serve good chinese food especially chicken with chilli sauce and mixed fried rice.Find a place to park is not a great deal
we visited the restaurant twice in march 2003 The service was fast and the food was very good on both visits. I recomend this restauarant.
Darda has the worst service and ambience imaginable. First of all they have like 3 waiters for each table, so it gives the already crowded restaurant the look of a fish market. After you take the first spoon full of your soup the food will arrive. You will watch it get cold as you finish your soup. As soon as you start eating your food the waiters will start circling your table like vultures ready to pounce on any empty plate, so they can push you out the door as soon as possible.
Assalaam, i dont kno what to say about this place! They claim to serve halal but at the same time serve wine! Yeah.. and guess what... spoke to the owner and he dont care at all as long as we muslims are giving him the business! Something to think about!
I love their food, especially try the think pancake with onion. Very fast service although they might not be as friendly, but if you want good food, this is the place to be!

I usually go here for lunch. The seavings are very good for the price. The lunch menu is priced at $7 and it includes the house soup, Hot and Sour or Chicken Corn and a main course which comes with Rice, and tea. There is always a wait but always under 5 mins. The Mongolian Chicken, though not on the menu, is very tasty. The chicken curry is my next Fav. This place always leaves me feeling satisfied with the price, the quality and taste of food and the prompt and friendly service. Biscuits from the Seng Kee bakery next door bring perfect closure to a wonderful luncheon!
I have been to Darda 2-3 times and think that the food is resonably good. As for service, it's as good (or bad) as an average Chinese restaurant - no suprise there. This place always seems to have quite a few Muslim diners.

Another Chinese restaurant, near Peking Eastern House. Dont miss the hot sesame bread. All the entrees are good. Decor is bright, with very nice billboard-style pictures of Masjid Al-Haram. This is in the Chinese mall behind Holiday Inn. Finding parking can be challenging.
