My husband and I recently visited this Indian restaurant in Mobile, Alabama. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, and my husband chose the Chicken Fried Rice. I’d like to start on a positive note: my husband really enjoyed his meal. The chicken fried rice was tasty, well-prepared, and satisfying overall. However, my own experience was more mixed. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, and considering that I eat Indian food very frequently and have tried it in many countries, including India, Nepal, Singapore, Turkey, and various cities across the United States, I had higher expectations for a restaurant-style biryani. One issue that stood out immediately was the service. When the food arrived, the server didn’t know which dish was which. I asked her which plate was the Chicken Biryani and which was the Chicken Fried Rice, and she honestly said that she didn’t know. This was a bit surprising and took away from the dining experience. As for the food itself, the presentation of the biryani was quite disappointing. It didn’t look like a professionally plated restaurant dish and felt more like a simple homemade meal, without any attention to visual presentation. In addition, there was a very large amount of fried onions, which overpowered the overall flavor and wasn’t to my taste. Another concern was that I kept biting into small hard pieces while eating. I couldn’t tell if they were tiny chicken bones or some kind of seasoning, but either way, it made the dish less enjoyable. On a positive note, the restaurant was playing Indian music, which I really loved and felt added a nice cultural atmosphere to the space. Overall, while there were some positives, my personal experience was average. For that reason, I would give this restaurant 3 out of 5 stars. With improvements in service, presentation, and biryani quality, it has the potential to be much better.
