Barcelos opened its first store in Pretoria, South Africa in 1993. Using recipes mastered by the Portuguese hundreds of years ago, our flame grilled flavours became so popular that we franchised the business in 1998. Since then we have opened outlets in 16 countries including SA, Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique, Ghana, Nigeria, Sudan, Canada, UK, Dubai, Oman, Mauritius, Singapore, and soon in Pakistan, India & Qatar.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. Selected Barcelos locations are certified Halal by ICSA.
Food was cold and the chicken didn’t smell right. The seating area was cluttered with display boards and pamphlets, and the cutlery was a blunt butter knife. Staff had no customer service and were talking loudly. I raised my concern with two staff in Coca-Cola Barcelos jackets and one apologised, but overall it’s far below the Barcelos standard I’m used to. Not what I expect for a meal here.
