As a young bright chef and business man, Sam Osmow took over Polar Submarine as his own business. Sam experimented with his own recipes and came up with truly delicious meals. He soon felt the need to work on changing the whole concept of the restaurant - making it a business he can easily relate to. He reopened up as Osmow's, a truly Mediterranean restaurant at 251 Queen Street South, Unit 1, Mississauga, thereby presenting his new healthy and mouth watering meal selections.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. Osmow's states that their meats are sourced from central halal-certified suppliers and that all of its meat is hand-slaughtered.
Score reflects admin-confirmed halal status; no additional evidence on file yet.
I paid $22 for this meal and honestly could not believe what I received. For the price, I expected a decent portion with a reasonable amount of chicken, but there was barely any chicken visible at all. Most of the dish seemed to be filled with everything except the main ingredient I was paying for. I've eaten at other osmows locations before, and my experiences there were much better. The portions were more generous, the food was prepared properly, and I felt like I was getting good value for my money. That's what made this visit even more disappointing, because I know the brand can do better than this. I understand that food costs have increased, but charging $22 for a meal that contains so little chicken is hard to justify. Customers shouldn't have to search through their food to find the protein they paid for. The portion size and overall value simply did not match the price. This location fell well below my expectations compared with other Osmow's restaurants I've visited. Based on this experience, I would not return to this particular location and would not recommend it to others. I hope management takes customer feedback seriously and improves the quality, consistency, and portion sizes. There are other Osmow's locations that have provided me with much better food and service, but unfortunately this one did not meet the standard I expected.
