Part of the The Kebab Shop chain — see all 54 locationsThe Kebab Shop is based on a concept popularized throughout Europe. Kebab shops are as prevalent there as burger joints are in the USA. If you've never been to a kebab shop in Europe, you'll have to stop in and experience what you've been missing. You'll find a delicious array of slowly cooked rotisserie meats and made-to-order grilled meats, seafood, and veggies. In addition, our 11 freshly prepared Mediterranean inspired salads and Crispy Falafel, Golden Fries and Saffron Rice will complement your cravings. Our menu appears deceptively simple but is purposely designed to provide you the freedom to decide exactly how you want your meal made. We offer all of this in a comfortable setting with courteous staff so you can gather with your family and friends and share a great meal together.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. From the management: 'Bay Area locations have halal carved chicken, halal carved lamb and beef, and halal grilled chicken kebab. San Diego, LA, Austin, and Orange County locations have halal carved lamb and beef. We understand and respect that the issue of Halal food can be quite complex, and there are a range of opinions surrounding this issue. Our goal is to be open and transparent so you can make an informed decision on whether to dine with us. Please note that we serve non-Halal meats and sell alcohol.'
Lured in by social media and kids eat free on the weekends… definitely don’t agree with the 4.5 star rating they have. When we first got there the line was pretty long but moved quickly. When we asked about some combos we saw on one of the menus on the website/another location, we were told that was only online… so you can apparently get deals by ordering online that you can’t get in store.. if true that’s fairly odd tbh. We ordered our food and when we went to each of the 3 tables that were open they were all covered with food, sauce, and trash under the seats/tables. It’s a busy Saturday so I figured someone would get it cleaned up shortly, but that never happened. An employee saw me cleaning one of the tables and came and wiped it down but the rag was so wet I had to use 5 paper towels to dry the table off. No trash was cleaned from any of the floors the entire time we were there. I went to the restroom to wash my hands before eating and at first was happy the water was pretty warm as many places only have cold water. The water quickly went from warm to scalding hot and burned my hands. When I came back out to get my drink, something must have been wrong with the Fanta Orange as it came out super bubbly but tasted flat and had a very odd taste. I tried the coke and that was better but still a little off from the coke at most restaurants. They probably need to dial in the mixture. Then we got our food. My kebab fries was fine, nothing amazing but not bad. My wife liked her Mediterranean plate, but my son’s chicken was 3 different temps in various pieces. Warm, lukewarm and cold. His fries were warm, but there were some fries that must have been cooked 2-3 different times in there because they were rock hard. About halfway through the meal we realized my wife didn’t get the Pita that should have come with her meal so I went to let them know we didn’t get it. The manager was apologetic and gave us 2 Pita which were fresh off the grill and delicious. Honestly it was the best thing we ate here and it did make the meal slightly better once we got it. The manager asked how the meal was, I told him it was ok and let him know about the temperature issue with the water and how I got burned. He apologized and said he would look into it. I understand places will have bad days so we will go back and try again. Hopefully the food is prepared to the right temps and the water in bathroom sink doesn’t seriously burn anyone before they get a chance to fix it.
