Very disappointed with the customer service at Pepe’s Piri Piri Southend-on-Sea today. I’ve been a loyal customer for over 8 years and regularly order from Pepe’s, but this experience has completely put me off returning. I spent £28.16 on 2 rice boxes and a large chips, and when I asked for 2 pots of sweet sauce, I was told I had to pay an extra £1.00. In all the years I’ve been coming to Pepe’s, at least one sauce per meal was usually included, and I’ve only ever been charged for additional extras. What frustrated me most wasn’t the £1 — it was the attitude from the staff. There was no effort to show goodwill or value a long-standing customer. With food prices already increasing, you would expect better customer service instead of staff acting like every small item must be charged regardless of customer loyalty. The food itself is decent, but customer service matters just as much. Sadly, this experience made me feel like making money was more important than keeping customers happy. Won’t be returning to this branch again.
