Barcelos opened its first store in Pretoria, South Africa in 1993. Using recipes mastered by the Portuguese hundreds of years ago, our flame grilled flavours became so popular that we franchised the business in 1998. Since then we have opened outlets in 16 countries including SA, Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique, Ghana, Nigeria, Sudan, Canada, UK, Dubai, Oman, Mauritius, Singapore, and soon in Pakistan, India & Qatar.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. Selected Barcelos locations are certified Halal by ICSA.
We came for dinner with family and had an excellent time. The drinks were generous and the bread was fresh. I had the kale soup to start and it came with a nice assortment of kale, chorizo, and beans. I had the baked stuffed scrod (pictured) which was amazing. It was covered in a Mozambique sauce with a wonderful stuffing. The fish, of course, was fresh. Portions were large and the prices were very reasonable. Our server was Aggie and she was excellent. She had recommendations, was very engaging and fun. I would highly recommend checking them out for a meal.
