Bringing Malaysia’s famous ayam goreng to Melbourne, it's crispy, juicy, and boldly seasoned fried chicken that packs way more flavour than its Kentucky rival. Where the wedges might have missed the mark, that sundae was a sweet, creamy flex to end on. Not only is it halal but it’s reliable, affordable and way more flavourful than it's Kentucky Fried archnemesis. The MB Crispy Chicken is exactly that and even though KFC nails a crunchy, herb-forward crust that’s classic comfort, it's oilier and not as plump next to Marrybrown well seasoned pieces. Marrybrown definitely pushes bolder, spicier notes with a clear kick and I love the rice additions making for a very different fried chicken experience. The burgers for the price are simple but satisfying letting the juicy chicken take centre stage and Marrybrown’s sauce selections steals the show. And the rice bowls are huge, filled with rice and covered in enough sauce to not see the chicken go dry. Unfortunately, Marrybrown’s wedges miss the mark — soft, under-seasoned, and lost beneath the heavy cheese and mayo and their mash potato is just ok. But it's Marrybrown’s ice-cream which is basically a sundae flex and the perfect sweet ending - for $3.80, it was loaded and although not as creamy as McDonalds was insanely good for the price paid.
