About Tandoor San Angel
Founded in 1986 by Chef Riaz Ahmad Siddiqui, originally from Pakistan whose family originated in the Northern Province (UP) of India, it was the first restaurant to introduce Indo-Pakistani cuisine to Mexico City. The name Tandoor was chosen because it means "clay oven" and it is in this oven that delicious dishes are prepared, such as Chicken Tandoori, Seekh Kebab, Nan bread, etc.

GoogleI was very excited to try indian food at such a high rated restaurant, unfortunately I left fairly disappointed. To get straight to the point, we ordered tikka masala, butter chicken, garlic naan, cheese naan, and a side of rice. Both curries tasted bland, and the portions were very small, which was surprising for how expensive it was. The garlic was burnt, the cheese naan was okay. I really wanted to enjoy the sauces but I just couldn't get over how it didn't even taste like indian food, and how bland it was. The chicken (2 small pieces per portion) was okay, it was seasoned nicely. I don't know if the chef was having a bad day, or there was a change in management, but the food was just not it. On a positive note, the service was great, and the restaurant interior was inviting and lovely.
