Muslim Education & Converts Center
4 West 43rd Street, New York, NY
Founded in 2006, MECCA is one of the first organizations committed to educating and supporting new converts to Islam, while building bridges between Muslims and non-Muslims in American society. We are working for the many people coming to Islam who otherwise would have no one to turn to for sound knowledge and much needed support during undoubtedly difficult times.

Just prayed behind an Imam who was preaching Ahmadi beliefs. After the prayer I asked the Imam - are you an Ahmadi and he confirmed it. If you dont know who Ahmadis are: They are the followers of Ahmadiyya movement founded in British ruled India near the end of 19th century. Their founder Mirza Ghulam Ahmad called himself a prophet. Since he came after Prophet Mohammad (SAW), Muslims consider this group very controversial. So if you are not Ahmadi then STAY AWAY from this place. May Allah give Hidayyah to all of us.

Mostly a space for classes. Prayer area is small, but if you're in the area, it's a good location to pray in.

The MECCA center is mostly office space and classrooms at this location, although the prayer space is one floor down. The center seems to be mostly women when I went in the afternoon, but they offer soany programs.
