Masjid al Farooq

Alfarooq Islamic Center is located on Kentucky Street in the historic old-downtown neighborhood of Bakersfield, California. Therefore, it has affectionately been referred to as the 'Kentucky Masjid' for many years even though the official name is Alfarooq Islamic Center. The building itself was originally constructed as a bank in what is believed to have been the late 1940's or early 1950's. The building was purchased by the Bakersfield Muslim Community and converted into a mosque in the mid-1990's. Alfarooq Islamic Center is currently working on plans to completely remodel and expand the facility.
